The Farmhouse Hotel

Let's get the headline out of the way - the hotel has cutlery and china by Villeroy and Boch and most attractive it is too - unless you are left handed (i.e. sinister as opposed to dextrous - no wonder we suffer). The handle of the latte glass actually digs into your hand, but I struggled on after a satisfying dinner of fish and chips. Breakfast was more of the same - good cup of tea, but a distinctly right handed cup. In fact, the hotel has left handed cups, so speak up early on!

The Farmhouse is in the countryside with no sea view and that's about the only complaint I can think of (apart from the china) . Just enough of an old farmhouse has been retained to give the impression of - a farmhouse. Everything else is tastefully modernised in the extreme. The overall look of my room was Turkish/Moroccan with heavy drapes, birdcage type lights and uplighters in between the downlighters, including two blue ones set into the wall, one each side of the loo. The bed had enough cushions on it to tick the "boutique hotel" box and to infuriate the average male who has never understood the need for cushions anyway. A well laid out wet room type shower rounded off very comfortable and well thought out accommodation.

I had dinner that evening and thoroughly enjoyed the meal in a dining room that again tried a bit too hard - lots of bare wood floors, woven reed lamps, too much background music and very attentive service. Good value and well-prepared and presented. Difficult to judge overall, as there were very few other diners on a weekday evening.

Full English breakfast was very good – and was included in the £99 room rate (upgraded without request).

So, the Farmhouse sets out to be a boutique hotel and finishes up as a pretty good example of this. The whole thing is a bit twee for my taste - tries harder than it really needs to, but it seems churlish to complain about that!. I've stayed in far less attractive surroundings and with much less attentive service for the same price.
And remember, there are left-handed cups for the afflicted!

We stayed at the farmhouse recently after a wedding and had the most enjoyable stay. The food and service throughout our 2 day break was simply great. Their manager was always smiling and asking if we needed anything. The rooms are really 5 star london with lovely bathrooms and spacious bedrooms. At the end of our break we felt we had been on a long holiday. Recommend it highly

Beautiful, beautiful hotel. I stayed here with my 4 year old son when visiting friends who live nearby and had just had a baby.

The room was gorgeous, the bed so comfy and the staff couldn't do enough for us.

Breakfast was lovely, though we didn't eat any other meals there as we dined at our friends house.

I just wish we'd been there when in was hot as I really wanted to try out the pool and make more of the outside area which was beautifully landscaped.

Highly recommended. I'm planning to go back in the summer!

It appears we are having differing opinions- yes, this hotel was somewhat relaxing, but within the rush of parties, guests were quickly forgotten, thus, this tranquility of which people speak was replaced with havoc and disorder. They obviously neglected their guests and when asked for help we were directed outside in the December weather to a manager which after ten minutes of asking we found was not present. We regret to inform the stay was intolerable, let alone when the inconsitent and incapable staff were put under additional pressure, especially when many were mostly incapable of even understanding anything other than their first language (which ironically, is German considsing our trip was based upon artifacts of the Occupation)

This hotel is as many others have said, friendly, spotlessly clean and nice and quiet. We stayed in a junior suite number 15 and we were delighted with the complimentary champagne, chocolates and fruit when we arrived. The hotel is situated very near the airport but amazingly we did not hear one plane. We did have a free hire car in our package which was very usefull because of the hotels location. However because both my wife and I like a drink with our meals it meant that we were limited to organising a taxi to take us to dinner or use the hotels restaurant. After the first dinner on the first night we decided we didn't need to organise a taxi as the food was excellent and the menu was big enough to accomadate our needs for three nights. We really enjoyed our stay and if we ever return to Guernsey we will definately use The Farmhouse again.

Fantastic hotel, great rooms, attentive staff, nice restaurant and bar, good breakfast buffet.

Don't stay here if you are looking for a central location -- it is not for you. If you are looking for a relaxing break in a wonderful hotel, not too far from the airport, you have found the right place. Food in particular stood out: wonderful breakfast cooked to order.

We had a beautifully styled room with french windows that opened out on to a balcony. Bathroom with rain shower.

We were a little disappointed that the swimming pool wasn't open when we stayed in October and thought that the price of the rooms should have been adjusted to reflect that, but this is a small gripe.

Fantastic stay overall.
