Description: This unique 17th century Inn houses a wonderful British restaurant and pub. You'll find it at the heart of the delightful Sussex village of Burpham, just 4 km from historic Arundel, surrounded by the glorious South Downs National Park. The menus are classic “best of British” food with a modern twist. Everything is home cooked with the freshest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible. That means the specials menu changes all the time, so your tastebuds will always be delighted. Open for lunch 12-2 or 12-3 weekends, and from 6pm for dinner. Great wine menu and local Real Ale. This is a very family friendly place; well-behaved dogs are welcome to sit under the table in the pub area whilst you dine. Groups, weddings and private parties love it here and come back year after year. Bookings are recommended especially for Sunday lunch as it's always very busy.

“Don't be a flexible friend!”
Reviewed 27 May 2013 via mobile

Lovely Ye oldie pub and restaurant in idyllic Burpham. Being local and at special occasion prices we visit 2 - 3 times a year.

We reserved the balcony table a week prior. On the day they called us to say lots of people booked at the same time could you do a different time? We tried to be helpful saying we'd have a drink prior to space things out for them. Sadly this backfired, as even though we checked availability on arrival, and were told it was all ok, when they were ready to take our order it came back twice with items sold out. Service although friendly was inefficient, slow and worse there was no compensation for what became a frustrating evening, memorable for all the wrong reasons. Other notes: the appetizer olives have chilly in (they failed to tell us), food & drink otherwise were good, it's very popular and not big so booking is advised.

We would possibly go back, but it'll be mid week when it should be quieter as currently they can't confidently deal with a busy Saturday.

Also worth noting, the website mentioned refurbishment I think in June.
