“Hidden away bliss!”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Just returned from four glorious nights in this wonderful inn! We stay a fabulous hotels all around the World, but this 17th century inn hits the spot on all counts! Hidden away in a small village in Somerset, it is that perfect blend of boutique hotel; friendly local pub; great restaurant and topped off with incredible staff! Owners Jules and Brad set the scene for a warm, friendly and professional welcome! Front of house Matt and Melissa (plus others) maintain the standards and all seem to show a genuine interest in their guests. Little extras such as home-made cookies and fresh milk in each room; four cups and saucers - two for afternoon tea and two for breakfast, make the usual tea making facilities so much better! The food is stunning! We are great foodies and loved the chef's style. My particular favourite was the rolled lamb shoulder!
Each room is different; ours, called 'Champagne' (an apt name for a wine merchant!) was beautifully decorated. The bathroom had a huge bath and rain shower! Loved the toiletries too!!! Another bonus - really good (and free!!) wi-fi!!
We had a thoroughly relaxing long weekend! A real treat occurred on the Sunday night with a live band! The Sam Evans band - a talented group of local musicians who are clearly destined for fame. Talented instrumentalists, singers and lyricists, these young men kept us all tapping our feet and singing along! The audience of locals and hotel guests had a great time!! Talking of the locals: what a wonderful crowd!! Each evening, our pre-dinner drinks allowed us to chat to lovely people, meet excitable dogs and get to know the community spirit that clearly exists in Holcombe! I want to live there!!! We will certainly return to this gem of a place in deepest Somerset!!! Thank you Jules!! Thank you Holcombe!!!

Room Tip: We loved 'Champagne' but I'm sure they're all great!!

We stayed at the Holcombe the night we got married and it was fab - they allowed my partner to check in early, before the ceremony, so that when we arrived late into the evening we could just go straight to the room. The Pemberly Room is huge, with a four poster bed, lots of space and a lovely shower and bathroom adjoined. Breakfast was wonderful, great choice of food all well cooked and lots of fresh tea and coffee.

We stayed 4 nights here in July - fantastic rooms, fantastic food and great service. This is an ideal get away of explore Somerset from.
Breakfasts are to-die-for and evening meals equally good with fantastic Somerset ciders to cool off with.

I wish I could come here every weekend! We had a wonderful stay here. The inn is set in beautiful surroundings, so peaceful and tranquil with excellent views of the abbey. We stayed in the Champagne room which was fantastic. The bathroom was stunning and the bed was really comfortable. We enjoyed a fantastic meal in the restaurant and can not find enough superlatives to fully describe how wonderful each course was. The staff are really friendly and attentive and make your whole experience just perfect. Breakfast was yet another delight and set us up for our day in Bath. If you are considering this hotel just book it before someone else does - you will not be disappointed! Thank you all for a wonderful stay - we look forward to returning.

My Partner took me to the Holcombe Inn for a couoke of nights. We stayed in the Africa room which was fabulous. Clean and comfortable just stunning. The staff absolutely made the place with the polite and friendly service they provided. The food was great. Would have liked to have seen a chicken dish on the menu but thats nothing compared to everything else. Peaceful and a great unwind. Loved it!

We cannot thank Jules, Melissa, Dan and the small army of waiters and waitresses enough. They all helped to make our wedding reception the most perfect day. From day one, when we met Jules we were delighted with the service we received. Dan, the chef, created an amazing menu from locally sourced ingredients and all dietary requirements were catered for really thoughtfully. We chose to have cheese and biscuits for our evening guests, the display that Dan and his team created was overwhelming! Nothing was too much trouble, from ensuring we were happy to Jules fixing my veil back in!
Our family and friends took over all of the rooms at the Inn and were delighted with the standard of cleanliness, comfort and the originality of decor.
Jules was kind enough to let us have a marquee in the garden and this worked so well. The views are wonderful, and she even booked the sunshine for us!
The Holcombe Inn only cater for a few Weddings each year, and if this is the standard of each one, then we can see why they limit the numbers!
We have been to the Holcombe Inn before for dinner and lunch and always been delighted with the service and quality on offer.
Thank you all, a million times over.
Mr and Mrs Clifford-Perkins

Stayed there for one night b&b in the 'Old England' room. Beautiful room with king-size bed, antique furniture and a fabulous bathroom. Tea making facilities available with fresh milk provided and homemade choc cookies !.
Superb restuarant with excellent selection of locally sourced ingredients used in the varied menu's.
The choice of breakfasts was excellent. I had the salmon and scrambled egg which was delicious and the daily 'cocktail' breakfast special drink ( various fruit juices mixed , non alcoholic ! )
The staff were very knowledgeable regarding questions about menu's and were very friendly.
All in all, you won't be disappointed if you stay / eat there.

Room Tip: Choose a front facing room if possible with fantastic views over the countryside.
