Everything a pub should be, with a standard of hotel accommodation that many others could learn from. We felt really comfortable and welcome here. The meals and room were of a high standard and at a very good price. No negative comments.

Room Tip: We had room. 8 which looks onto the square. Great room.

We visited the George and Dragon on the first night of our weeks holiday in Dent, expecting to eat there several times, but what a disappointment the food was.
The Dent beer is excellent, and a great choice as expected for a brewery tap. The bar and restaurant areas were pleasant, the staff, somewhat blunt ,again partly expected in this part of England. The food however was poor, one meal was inedible because it was so salty, and was refunded at the end. The pies were burnt and hard on top,and the other vegetarian meal stodgy and bland. The couple on the next table also complained about their meals.
As a result we didn't eat there again, only popped in for a drink. It was a shame, because it was our nearest place to eat and there's not a great choice in the area.
So be aware if you visit, hopefully things will improve in the cooking department or trade will surely suffer.

Even though the pub was very busy when we arrived, we were dealt with pleasantly and efficiently. We were even offered an early breakfast as we had a long walk to our next destination. Despite getting them up half an hour early the breakfast staff were pleasant and efficient. The evening meal was excellent, overall a great stay.

Visited here a couple of times whilst camping in Dent. Best beer for miles around and all supplied by the local Brewery. The five stars is only for the beer as we didn't stay or eat at this establishment. We sat in the smallish bar area which was fine - there is a larger eating and restaurant area as well.

Had a meal here whilst we stayed in Dent. Expected better food for the price ! The girl who served us threw our food on the table and huffed and puffed when she realised she hadn't brought any cutlery. Food was below average and when we had finished eating the barman sat at the bar drinking with his friends who had come in, giving us the impression that it was time for us to leave. Would definitely not eat there again which is a shame as the beers are great.

Stayed at the George & Dragon for a night whilst walking and the room was just fine, nice and clean with a nice hot shower. Breakfast was included and had a good choice of food. We also spent the evening there and enjoyed a few of the Dent beers which where very good and a fresh cooked Lamb Henry hit the spot after a long days walking.

My Wife and I holiday in Dent every year. Dent and the surrounding area is one of the most beautiful places in the Uk. Although we have never stayed in The George & Dragon, we often pop in during our visits. Most of the time I would agree with the very good comments regarding the staff, food and especially the beer. However, I would also very much agree with some of the negative comments regarding the Landlord. We have been lucky in that he has only been present on a couple of occasions, but have never found him particularly friendly or welcoming. On our last visit, we walked in on a Thursday evening, looking forward to an evening meal and some drinks. The Landlord was sat on a computer by the bar and as we walked in and said "hello", he peered at us over the top of his glasses as though we had just landed from another planet without reply. The Barmaid came dawdling over whilst texting and served us drink. When we asked about a food menu she replied matter of factly that they were not doing food tonight, only for residents. My Wife asked if that was usual for a Thursday evening and the reply was "no, it's not usual". She then popped the drinks on the bar and said the price. The manager sat within earshot of all this and neither offered an apology, explanation or even a suggestion, as Dent is not teaming with restaurants. As we sat having a drink that we probably would not have ordered, we noticed others walk in, order drinks and then get told "no food tonight". Surely a note outside would have been nice ? As Mr Friendly sat there and said nothing, we changed our plans for the following evening and went elsewhere. Beautiful location, great beer, good food, shame about the Landlord.
