Fabulous place to stay. The views were superb and the people lovely and helpful. The children loved it and so did we. A great place from which to explore the dales and return to for peace and relaxation. We enjoyed the peace from mobile phones and internet!! Would definitely go again.

“Beautiful, isolated setting for rustic cottage”

We stayed for 3 nights in this cottage which we enjoyed even though the weather was bleak. This is not a luxery cottage but it is perfectly well equipped for the seven of us to relax, in an unspoilt and characterful place. It is a working farm environment. The heating worked fine, there was plenty of hot water and coal for the fire and yes the floor upstairs is a bit uneven and the furniture is a bit of a mishmash but we all enjoyed it and it wasn't dirty! One improvement would be that the parking and general access isn't great. I would recommend not driving right up to the front door as you will need to reverse out again along the narrow track.
Instead turn around and park on the track facing the road. Arrive in the daylight if at all possible.

“In beautiful setting but in need of cleaning and care.”
Reviewed 3 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

In beautiful remote farming countryside, up a very narrow winding lane. Comfortable and clean beds.
Warning sign over sink in kitchen that water must be boiled before drinking, or used for teeth cleaning etc as water from a private source. We were not advised of this before arriving at property therefore we were not prepared. Fridge/freezer not in kitchen but in utility room around the corner.
Unpleasant strong stale off-putting smell in the property. Three piece unpleasant to sit on - in need of deep clean.
To first floor extremely uneven flooring to the point of danger of losing balance. Particularly on landing.
We were offered an alternative accommodation which we were happy with.
Willans Farm may appeal to a person who is interested only in beautiful countryside and does not even notice their immediate surroundings, and for whom any kind of hygiene standard is not a consideration. But this person would likely be found in a tent in a campsite which would offer more in the way of freshness, possibly a more reliable water source, and would cost less money.

“Lovely”
Reviewed 31 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We have just got back from a 4 night break at Willans Farmhouse. 2 adults, 2 children and a dog.
The farmhouse is up a very narrow lane and is very remote. It is a working farm so you will get some flies so go prepared. There is no internet or phone signal so perfect if you want to get away from it all.
3 double bedrooms and a single. (one double bed and 2 rooms with 2 singles & 1 single room)
It is well equiped for a family and there are board games for the children in the living room cupboard if they want them.
Plenty of pots and pans if required and oil central heating if it gets a bit chilly.
The views from the farm are amazing, as you look across to the highest peak in the dales, and if you turn left out of the farm there is a waterfall about 1/2 mile up the road.
The people who own the farm made us feel very welcome and are happy to speak to you when they see you.
There is a footpath that runs through one of the fields down to the river and over, we only went as far as the river the kids loved it.
Dent is a very pretty and has cobbled streets. There are shops and pubs there.
We went into Hawes a couple of times and can recommend the Crown Hotel especially if you want to eat and have a dog as they let them in the pub. The landlady is very welcoming and will spoil your dog with treats!
We had a relaxing stay here. No problems and the family that own the house are on hand and will check everything is ok for you.
The first night we got there we wernt sure we made the right choice as first impressions wernt quite what we expected but once you settle in you will realise that the scenery, people and location are perfect for a relaxing peaceful break!
