Just spent morning with 4 children at Kirkley Hall. Well worth the £18 entry fee. Kids got to handle a number of animals, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the cafe really well organised especially for kids lunch boxes. Wherever we walked on site there was something to see. It's obviously on the grounds of the college but I think it added to the experience. We are definately coming back.

We visited with 2 teenagers and 2 children age 10 and 12. A family ticket is £18. The kids loved the meet the animal sessions where they got to hold and stroke a variety of animals which they loved. There was a variety of animals to see and we spent a good 4 hours looking around. The cafe was very reasonable the orangery was busy so we went to the cafe and the good was prepared fresh. The grounds are substantial and you can easily spend the whole day exploring.

One of the best value for money in the area for a family day out. The zoo is lovely staff very friendly and helpful. Don't expect big animals but the Lemurs and Meerkats are great. Plenty of other types of animals, reptiles and birds to see. The play parks were great too our 10yr old son didn't ask for his phone once!!

Came here as family with toddler and baby. It is relatively small but there is actually a large range of animals. It is a small zoo so don't expect rhinos and tigers, but they have lots of smaller animals - cuddly ones, reptiles, birds, fish, monkeys...

Actually I wasn't expecting very much - the leaflet we had looked very professional but there were very few pictures - so I was expecting something really very small. Pleasantly surprised.

there are very regular feeding and educational sessions. the reptile one we went to was delivered in a classroom, very professional with great care to make sure all the kids got a chance to see the animals up close and stroke them if they wanted.

Layout pretty flat and very accessible with buggy. I think wheelchair would be OK too - perhaps a few doors or steps might need a bit of help but in general well laid out.

the café is good with a kids play area (though the kids play area and the toilets could do with a wee bit of a facelift - this seems to be happening in the toilet at least). Staff very friendly and did a great job (better than I did!) at stopping our toddler's strop!

Good grounds to walk around. In the grounds there is a dead tree with a 3ft door carved into it off one of the paths - our wee one took quite a while working out who lived in there!

Really recommend this as a daytrip for kids. Worth checking up online if there are any special events on at the zoological gardens or the attached estate - these seem to be fairly regular.

I thought it was a nice place different types of animals a bit small but nice most of the animals where in clean pens apart from the donkeys in the petting shed it looked dirty and the space they had was small apart from this it was good and flat to walk around also wheelchair friendly
