Had a weekend in Canterbury but was staying in Minister. Went for a walk and found The New Inn. What a lovely place. There were four of us and all had something different. I had the sea bass and it was perfectly cooked. We all enjoyed our meals. Staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Very reasonably priced too.

Food very good, and freshly cooked. But if busy, be prepared to have a very long wait. We waited over half an hour for our starter. We had only starters, main course and coffee and didn't hang about after our coffee, and we were there three hours. That is my only reason for a four rating and the fact that I did not like the idea of the food (fish) being served up on a wooden board. I much prefer to have a normal plate!

The steak night is a must, well prepared and great tasting food from the starters all through to the dessert.
Best steak I've had in the area for a long time.
Highly recommend !

It was the 1st time we've visited the New Inn, what a lovely restaurant. Very cosy, a great ambience and fantastic food, some of us had Sunday lunch which was out of this world and I had the steak, cooked perfectly. We will definitely be going back, great food and great service!

Went with friends to the New Inn last night. Have eaten there before and it was fine, but this time the food was really good - they have a new chef who uses local produce, and all freshly made. I shared a seafood platter to start which was really good - mussels in a creamy white wine sauce, spicy prawns, whitebait, fishcakes and calamari (definitely not the frozen type). Then a ribeye steak which was cooked perfectly and came with some lovely roasted shallots. There were four different dishes on the table and everyone was really happy with them. The cod in batter looked lovely (next time) and the vegetarian dish had lots of flavour. The restaurant has been changed slightly and feels much cosier and the staff are as welcoming as always - nothing too much trouble.

A great place for a meal and good value - would highly recommend.
