Just returned from such a fab family weekend in this great cottage. We used all the facilities: relaxed in the hot tub, watched a movie in the mini cinema, played pool, fiddled on the drums, lit the fires, played games, enjoyed the luxurious beds; all slept very well, and took the dog for some nearby walks. Ate and drank in the cottage; no need to go anywhere else, though had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Dog and Bear Hotel on our way home. The owners, Glen and Liz live next door and were very friendly and helpful: milk, bread and butter on our arrival (Liz even emailed to see what bread and milk we wanted). Would definitely recommend.
Perfect for a short weekend getaway. Lovely spacious house and lovely hosts!
Loved the music room and wood burners.
This is quite honestly the perfect holiday home. 5 of us stayed
for 5 nights. We didn't want for anything, not even fresh bread and butter on arrival! There is a coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, cinema
room (so many dvds to choose
from!), pool table (tip - use the smaller pool cues), dart board, piano, guitar, drumkit, chess set, typewriter, TVs, board games...you name it! We enjoyed having so much choice and freedom to do so
many things whenever we liked. The kitchen has an Aga, lovely Smeg fridge/freezer and all the utensils,
crockery and cutlery you'd need. Bathrooms and toilets are really nice and there are (fluffy) towels
provided. The beds are four poster and very comfortable. The house is spacious and light with storage and plenty of furniture so somewhere
for everyone to sit. There is a place for disposible bbqs and room at the front and back to sit outside. We had a bbq and it was easy to do. The hot tub was relaxing and is private too. The local village (Lenham) has a bakery, wine shop, pharmacy, co-op, restaurant, pub and fish restaurant as well as interesting little shops. From here we've visited Gillingham, Rochester and Bluewater easily by car and Leeds Castle isn't far. It's simple to get to Maidstone Sainsburys or Morrisons too. There are also local walks you can do which are enjoyable and near the house through picturesque wheat fields, sheep, cows, lovely wildlife. Glen and Liz are very welcoming and so friendly, it was nice to chat to them and know we could go to them with any queries about the area. Mack the dog is an added bonus as he's
wonderful and we absolutely
loved taking him for a walk. This is a good location to see Kent and enjoy it's countryside and towns. All in all 10/10, we cannot recommend this house enough!
Stayed for 3 days over New Years and had a fantastic time! The facilities are great and there is more than enough space for everyone. I would note that the stairs to the 3rd floor are incredibly steep and wouldn't be suitable for unsupervised children or people with mobility issues. Also, the hot tub is wood fired which meant we couldn't use it for 2/3 days but this was due to the rain more than anything else.
All in all a perfect stay and couldn't recommend this house enough.
We stayed for a week over Christmas. Glenn and Liz did everything to make this wonderful property feel like a home from home and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of lovely gestures also. Beautiful countryside all around and the nearby village of Lenham is stunning. Would definitely recommend this property.
What a wonderful stay we had. The house is superb, with all the facilities you need, and the cinema room was a real hit with all the family. The location is perfect with wonderful country walks. Cannot wait to come back.
We were visiting friends for a party in Maidstone on Saturday night. Rather than book a hotel for one night, we decided to make a long weekend of it, take the dogs, get some friends together and book a holiday cottage instead.
What an awesome property this is! The owners met us on arrival, both logburners were roaring, there was milk in the fridge, bread and butter on the side, the heating controls were explained and the information folder left out in the kitchen with full details of the house and all manner of useful stuff regarding the local area. In early March, the hot tub was understandably not in use, but we didn't miss it - the weather was horrible lol
2 4-posters, a cinema (with comfy sofas) and games room in the cellar and a music room ensured we were all entertained indoors while the weather was unkind. There were 50 acres of parkland across the road, so the dogs were also very happy! The Aga slow-roasted our leg of lamb to absolute perfection, enabling us to finish the weekend with one of the best Sunday dinners we've had in a long time!
Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and they have gone to great lengths to provide everything you could possibly need. An excellent holiday let - thank you for having us!
