Stayed here late November for 3 days with my wife & 4 week old baby for a short break.

We wanted Luxury, Cosy warm fires, Relaxation, Fresh air and space to really switch off for a few days and this hotel really hit the spot and we had an excellent short break and look forward to coming back soon.

Reception, Dining, Waiting and Cleaning staff all were amongst the friendliest people we have ever encountered in a hotel and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable, from sterilizing babies bottles to late requests for breakfast in bed and serving us dinner up in the lounge in front of a roaring log fire, with good Guinness on tap.

I travel extensively for work and can be picky about hotels, but this one I happily recommended without any hesitation.

Looking forward to going back and bringing the golf clubs next time.

Thanks for a really nice break.

We stayed here for 2 nights last week and had a great experience.

Danny and Maura helped us out and both were fantastic. Maura even took the time to give us suggestions on things to do both in Galway and to the south where we were headed next. She is a true asset and whatever they're paying her, it isn't enough.

We would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask Maura for her driving tour of Connemara - it was WELL worth it. She also has a great route down...

Myself and my husband are just back from a weekend at Glenlo Abbey and we had a wonderful time. Our stay was perfect from start to finish, deserves its full 5 star rating. The Hotel was beautiful with wonderful views, we had a lovely spacious room with a stunning four poster bed which was very comfortable. The little extra touches were lovely, handmade truffles in our room ,they left slippers out beside the bed, and we had fresh bottled water delivered to our room through out each day. We had dinner in the River Room restaurant which was a beautiful room and the food was fantastic. We had a night cap in one of the lounges with a beautiful open log fire and total relaxation, you feel like your in a different world and it was wonderful. Breakfast was great with lots of different hot and cold options to choose from, the eggs benedict and the freshly baked breads were amazing. All the staff were friendly and helpful and service was always with a smile, they are a credit to the hotel. Our stay at Glenlo Abbey Hotel was perfect in every way and we cant wait to return.

Dear Elaine S,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments! We find them very encouraging to know that you enjoyed your experience with us. Our eggs benedict is a very popular choice from the breakfast menu and is always a topic of conversation as people leave us! The general comment is "yummy!". Quite simply, we couldn't have put it better ourselves!

Thank you for coming to visit all the way from County Kerry and we hope to see you both again soon!

Warmest regards

Truthfully we stayed here last Saturday night 23rd of November to see if we if we would return for my husbands birthday on December 14th, as I wanted something special for him. Well from the moment we arrived at the reception we were warmly greeted by Sandra who put us at ease straight away, and from check in to check out all staff couldnt have been more helpful. I was a bit apprehensive reserving because of a few negative reviews, I am a very fussy person, but the only way to describe our experience is ''out of this world'' from the warm reception area with its beautiful open fire which was so welcoming on a cold November afternoon. After Sandra showed us to our room, our bags were swiftly delivered to our spacious bedroom, I dont know if they do it for all their guests, but we got beautiful home made truffles:) We were so taken with the beautiful furnishings. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud it was the best nights sleep we ever had in a hotel, and the room itself was so quiet, not a sound. At times we felt we were the only people in the hotel. We only reserved bed and breakfast, but decided to try the food in the river room restaurant, it did not dissappoint, and a big thank you to our waiter I think his name was Bart, who made wounderful reccomendations with the food and wine. After dinner we decided we would relax in one of the cosy lounges with an Irish mist liquor. We sat near the open fire and time seemed to stand still. I felt like the lady of the manor. After a perfect evening we retired to our beautiful bedroom. Breakfast the next morning was served in the same great room where we had dinner the previous evening. Again service with a smile. The server had a wonderful selection of juices, cereals, fresh fruit, prunes, apricots, cold meats and cheeses, and a wonderful selection of fine breads. The selection from the cooked options was amazing. We were sad to have to leave that morning, and wished we were staying longer, but we look forward to returning on the 14th. Maura was the receptionist we met at check out, and was super efficient as there were many other people leaving at that time. Thank you to all the staff at Glenlo Abbey for a perfect stay, looking forward to doing it all again soon.

This is a fine hotel in a wonderful location with great views. My room was spacious with a big bed with soft down pillows. Everything you would expect in the room including tea and coffee making facilities, safe, fridge etc. Staff were very friendly.

Breakfast was great with lots of options from eggs benedict to full Irish. I had a salmon omelette

We stayed at Glenlo Abbey on our honeymoon as part of a "Castles of Ireland" package and absolutely loved it!
The room was beautiful and the location was ideal for exploring Galway and Connemara.
But what really set Glenlo Abbey apart for us was the service we received. From the enthusiastic "Congratulations!" that the delightful Maura greeted us with on our arrival, to the welcome letter from the general manager, to every detail that the staff looked after during our brief two-night stay, we really felt at home at Glenlo. The front desk staff was knowledgable, courteous, and best of all, friendly.
Other than that, our room was big and beautifully appointed. The common areas were lovely. (Real wood fireplaces a big plus!) The business center was very convenient and came in quite handy on multiple occasions. We only ate at the restaurant in the morning but it was one of the best Irish breakfasts we had on the whole trip! And we loved the cozy Oak Tavern pub in the basement.
All in all, a great stop on our honeymoon! We can't wait to return.

Just spent a lovely weekend with friends at this great hotel. We were warmly greeted by Maura and the welcoming turf fire and candles in reception area really adds to the welcome. We were shown to a lovely room very well appointed . The bed linen was gorgeous and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with great choices. We dined here on both nights, the first night in the dining room and the second in the chapel which was very special. The location of this hotel is great just outside Galway City. It has a golf course to the front with lovely walks down to the lake. Staff were warm and friendly and there were lots of extra touches which made our stay really memorable. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
