Lovely setting and really nice drawing rooms. Dining room is nice too. Food is good but not special. Things that make me wonder about 5 star rating include exceptionally outdated bathrooms and room decor (80s curtains) ; processed orange juice rather than fresh; room service guy with a very poor manner. Reception staff were friendly. Can't understand how the star rating thing works in Ireland. Lough Rynn is a far superior hotel in so many respects but is 4 star.

Stayed in the Glenlo abbey hotel from the 4th to the 7th of March. Overall we found the hotel a very enjoyeable place to stay in . The staff were excellent and very helpful in every way possible . The rooms were also excellent but I would say that the bathrooms were a bit dated. My only criticism of the hotel was the food . It was definitely not up to the standard that is required of a five star hotel. This was a shame as all other aspects of the hotel were excellent.

My wife and I had a very relaxing one night stay here. Hotel is impeccable and rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful also. This was our first stay in a 5 star hotel and it was a good experience. The food was good but nothing extra special, I would have expected better from a 5 star hotel. Overall good experience though. Note: if using taxis to travel into city centre expect to pay about €10-€13

Third stay at Glenlo love the peaceful ambience the friendly professional staff and wonderful food especially breakfast . Little disappointed that Pullman restaurant wasn't open as it was always one of the highlights of our stay . Would definitely recommend great place to wind down and chill out! Take a trip to Kylemore Abbey most memorable experience.. Liz C Swords

Drove by here on many an occasion and always wanted to stay. Booked a deal thru go Pigsback. Delighted with my purchase. Lovely old early hotel. From the opening of the front door and smelling the wood fire burning to the old wooden reception. Look did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly. Food was excellent and breakfast was devine. My only thing for a 5* hotel is that at breakfast I had to get up and find my own cutlery. Tea and toast came but no milk or butter on the table. Once again I got up to find my own. Not what you would expect from a 5* hotel but this is minor. Would be bsck

Overall service, comfort, cleanliness were all very good, bar area very disappointing,Sandra in reception was 5 star, friendly, efficient, was everything else 5 star? Not so sure, still enjoyed my stay very much.

Room Tip: No rating on pool, as there was none, the Abbey and grounds and hotel building are fabulous, the tra...

Oh, I smile when I remember our family weekend here. Excellent food, phenomenal service, fires everywhere and constantly tended (or you can do it yourself :-)) I wish I remembered our waitress's name-she was from very close by, blonde hair and in her last year in UCG-and she was so so lovely. I couldn't fault the weekend at all. The surprise for me was that the bar food (which you can have upstairs in the French room too) was not only delicious but also really reasonably priced. We had lunch there on the Saturday and again on the Sunday. We honestly didn't want to leave. I stayed here years ago and it left no lasting memory but now, under new ownership, it certainly has. Book and enjoy people. :-)
