My son (32 year old) and I spent a 4 day mid week break at Watersmeet to go fishing.
At the hotel the meals are amazing ....... great quality and quantity.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The bar has a very pleasant atmosphere.
The fishing was excellent we caught a large number of fish the best of which was my sons 10lb carp. (We are not expert fishermen this is only our second time fishing this year).
We would thoroughly recommend Watersmeet for an angling break.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed stay.

We arrived and had to find someone to help us in the pub who didn't seem to understand the booking. We were then given a room that we didn't book and so had to ask for some money back. The sheets were not clean, there were 4 shabby clothes hangers in the wardrobe and the water pressure in the shower only gives you cold / luke warm water. There were only 2 large towels and no face towels or bath towels available. You are better off staying in a generic chain hotel in Gloucester. This is not worth the £75 at all.

This place is the worst i have been to, sheets on the bed were stained badly (not sure they had been changed) the shower curtain was dirty and stained. the rubber mat in the shower was just as bad also the shower matt to stand on when getting out of the shower was still wet from the previous visitors, we used our own towels, we had to give back dirty glasses when having breakfast on two occasions, the breakfast is very large but very cold and you are constantly pestured by lots of flies, (why would there be so many flies in a restaurant) we found out our room had been cleaned by there odd job man.
If you go for the fishing you will be dissapointed the pegs are not looked after they all need work, for some reason you can leave your tackle on a peg 24/7 even if you are not fishing which just stops people who have got up early from using these pegs this really needs sorting out but it wont be as the chap who owns the place is not bothered, i saw people fish for as little as 4hrs per day but they kept the peg for the 4 days they were there

Room Tip: All rooms can be noisy due to all night fishing (in and out) dont use there towels/bedding

We first stayed at the Watersmeet Hotel 3 years ago and have been very happy to return each year since then. We have always had good service and the owners and staff are always very helpful. My son is a regulary competitor at the Riding for the Disabled finals which are held at the nearby Hartpury Equine College -we find the Waters Meet is nicer than using student accommodation at the college.
Really nice place - breakfast is excellent and you can get good quality food in the evening which is great for us. There is a pool table in the bar - this might not be everybody's taste but is ideal for us, particularly our son. Pricing is good value and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
