“Weekend mini break 13-15 November 2015”
Reviewed 17 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Perfectly happy with our 3 night stay at Court Hayes, lovely quirky cottage, good amount of space, everything clean and everything working!

We already knew Wyck Rissington for the beautiful quiet place that it is, and amenities very close by. We did get some hard stares from the elderly gentleman opposite when we parked outside to unload the car, so I would recommend parking opposite, near the church.

“Charming but didn't meet our hopes.”
Reviewed 28 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Court Hayes was a charming ,quirky property however ,we found it to be quite remote.
It is in a very quiet village with no local shop for even basic supplies. The closest town was Burford which is 10 miles away or 15 minutes along a very windy narrow country road ..
A bit worrying if you've enjoyed a pint or two with dinner as is usual when on holidays !
We found it 'interesting' negotiating the stairs to the upstairs bathroom when nature called in the middle of the night !
We actually cut our stay short and moved on to find accommodation that was more convenient which was a shame as the area is very picturesque and beautiful.

Management Response

Character Cottages, as a marketing agency, does not look after or maintain any cottages.

The following is written by the owner's appointed property manager:

"It seems that these guests did not read the website details on the property, as it does state that Wyck Rissington is a quiet, peaceful village. A quick look on Google, prior to arrival, would have given more of an indication that this is a fairly rural village, although it’s only 5 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Bourton-on-the-Water. Most would say, the best of both worlds!

Marking us down to 3 stars for service was very unfair as, during the guests’ stay, they were assisted instantly when they called with various questions. Late one night, they needed a pharmacist, and thought that the closest town was Burford. We advised them that Bourton was only five minutes away, and after researching online, called them back with comprehensive directions, even describing the shop frontage and getting the contact details for them.

We can’t understand the directions being marked down to 3 stars as they could not have been clearer. A few weeks before their arrival date, the guests were provided with full, precise, written instructions, including various photographs of the route into the village, and of the cottage itself.

The stairs to the family bathroom are fairly steep, but this is detailed in the property description, and there are spotlights to illuminate the space, with switches in the bedroom and in the bathroom"

“Amazing Cottage, Amazing Location”
Reviewed 7 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Hi Dawn,
Our recent stay at Court Hayes was absolutely fantastic! -- I can't tell you enough how much my family enjoyed our time. Working with you and Character Cottages was so easy: everything was ready when you said it'd be, everything was done as you said it would be. Total pros, and totally great experience for us. The village of Wyck Rissington is more than charming, it feels like a step back in time to a simpler, more idyllic time. Thanks!

“Beautiful place!”

Lovely cottage in the beautiful Cotswolds, Every convenience and perfect for our needs. Entry keysafe awkward to access as so difficult to see numbers without a torch in winter.

“Cosy Cottage”
Reviewed 6 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We stayed at Court Hayes with friends last weekend. Perfect place to stay! If you are looking for somewhere with character this place has it in abundance. We didn't want to leave. Two really good sized bedrooms both with separate bathroom facilities. I couldn't rate it more highly. Hope to return. The only minor thing is we had to buy our own wood, not a major thing but could have done with some there. That aside perfect weekend!

“A lovely find”

A really cosy tastefully appointed cottage with real old world charm but with all the modern conveniences. We particularly liked the separate dining room and the wood fires made it.

A lovely safe garden for our dog Alfie to sniff around whilst we were able to sit out and enjoy the warm sun.

Good location with a great walk across the fields to Bourton on the Water. Ideal for visiting the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.

The only disappointment was the free standing bath - the water pressure was really very poor it took ages to fill. A lot of the literature is out of date (last year) and the garden chair needs to be replaced ( I think one of the set of four is broken as I found it at the end of the garden). Bedding very nice but I will bring my pillows next time as found the ones provided rather thin.Only minor things and didn't put us off a return visit which is a must!

We spent a lovely week at Court Hayes and found the beds extremely comfortable and enjoyed our experience of this lovely stone cottage with its two staircases and quirkiness! We would have liked some logs though, only a few in the cottage and they were damp inside! The village is a delight and very uncommercial with a slow pace to help you unwind.
