It was a first time takeaway from Mumford & Sons tonight and the food was good but not fantastic in my opinion. I will certainly try it again and perhaps try eating in to see if this makes a difference as many people seem to have really good things to say about this little family restaurant.
The Fish was fresh so I couldn't complain about that but I wouldn't say that the chips were not amazing although not bad either. All in all I think the family all ate and as I have already mentioned I have not written this place off as I have only tried the cod, chicken and chips but I am excited to know that there are some other selections such as Skate on the menu that is a lot more of a rarity at the average Fish&Chip Shop and hopefully will have an updated review after round 2!

Been twice recently. First time was on a Friday - great (but the chips could've done with cooking a bit longer as were soggy and had that raw potato after taste. Then went on a Tuesday and it wasn't busy, given 2 bits of ropey soggy cod that had been sitting there for a while. Was dry and quite unenjoyable which was a real shame. Surprised somewhere with such a good reputation would do that. Crazy. Will return, but only on a Friday.

This is the original good old fashioned, traditional fish & chips restaurant.
The food is perfect & freshly cooked for you at order and never fail to please, this has been a family business for over 100 years and have a lot of pride in what they cook and how they cook it.
We love this restaurant the staff are very friendly & great atmosphere.
Highly recommend this restaurant you won't be disappointed.

This was fish and chips as I remembered from days past. A real piece of Haddock, not a little sliver, moist and beautifully cooked with fully cooked crispy batter, and a great serving of chips. We had arrived at about 8:55 pm (the restaurant closes at 9:00 pm), but the service was good and friendly, and the banter with other customers quite informative and interesting. Life really doesn't get any better.

I have been getting my fish and chips from here for 30 years...always great fish an chips...
And decided to eat in the restaurant....
Don't think it has been redecorated for 30 years...It's so so tired...terrible colours,carpet..etc
If you are going to charge much more to eat in the restaurant then please have the respect to make a nice place to eat in....wont eat in again... great staff though..
