My husband and I spent five nights at this lovely hotel last week.
Our room was spotlessly clean as was the en suite. The bathroom was a little tired but the shower was the easiest to operate I have ever come across in a hotel. My only complaint about the bathroom was the lack of hip height grab rail over the bath. For those of us who are less agile or whose balance is not the best it would make having a shower much easier.
The housekeeping team continued to look after us very well for the whole of our stay ......and thank you for the delicious oaty biscuits you left for us each day!
Our evening meal in the lovely Brasserie on the Sunday evening was OK but the meals we had on three of the other four nights were excellent (We ate out on the fourth night with a friend a few miles away).
We both really enjoyed our breakfasts each morning. The attentive staff bought us tea or coffee very quickly and we could select from a variety of fruit, cereal, croissants etc on the buffet table. Staff took our orders for cooked food and this was served within a few minutes on hot plates. The last two mornings I had smoked haddock and poached eggs which were cooked to perfection.
All the staff were so pleasant, friendly and polite. Their natural courtesy made us feel most welcome and we thank them for that.
One of the receptionists asked us if we intended visiting Durham. When we said we did she suggested we might use the Park and Ride facility rather than try and park in the very small city. We were given simple and very easy to follow instructions to the Park and Ride. There is a huge car park which is free and the buses run every 10 minutes. Being of a certain age we could use our Freedom Passes on the bus. The bus stopped a short distance from the impressive cathedral. It made the few hours spent in the city completely stress free.
We found our stay here so relaxing and comfortable and would love to return in the future. Thank you!
