Beautiful hotel in a fabulous location with easy parking. Very friendly staff. This was a 60th birthday celebration & our friend who was turning 60 had a fabulous room. It was a secret escapes deal & represented really good value for money. The Monday evening meal was a little disappointing. The melon starter supposedly came with a coulis which was more like soup. My partner loves steak & ale pie but it was very weird, a deconstructed pie, the puff pastry was under done, the mash was piped onto the plate & was dry, the meat was stewed to death & was stringy & dry. This was in great contrast to the breakfasts which were outstanding! So was the steak on the Tuesday evening which was a bargain, 2 steaks with all the trimmings and 2 glasses of wine £25 per couple. The staff were delightful but rather confused about the deal we had secured. The rooms were clean and comfortable although on closer inspection dusty in the corners, the weather was bad and the heating was put on & when we turned our radiator on the dust was very evident on the radiator & skirting board! We would certainly return but upgrade to the a la carte menu which looked very tasty!
