Description: Hidden in the corner of Spennymoor next to the council offices in Green Lane formally known as 'The Half Moon' lies a secret to be discovered after 4 months of refurbishment it opened it doors September 2012. When you enter you will be greeted with a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The setting has been themed on a rustic tuscancy hideaway filled with colours & fabrics of the Mediterranean. Its owners are a local family Steve & Lynda with Steve doubling up as head chef. We offer good home cooked food inducing fish and thick cut juicy steaks and an array of mouth watering dishes. Step outside and you will discover a tuscany courtyard and you are met with the sight of a old vineyard running round stone buildings & disappearing in the blue skyline. Exciting plans have been passed for a forty seater restaurant complete with its own kitchen and authentic open plan wood burning oven which will bring the smells and the taste of the Mediterranean

Excellent service and the food was the best I have had in ages. Will definitely be going back soon. The beer garden looks great for summer time entertaining.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014 via mobile

This was our several visit here and we have never been disappointed especially when we order the burgers. The service is always good the homemade chips are delicious and the burgers are a must we are stuffed off a single burger so would not be able to manage if we doubled up for £1. Great menu, great food and great staff!!!

“Great for Families”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014 via mobile

Went to the Olive Grove for a spur of the moment Friday evening tea. We sat in the rear garden and enjoyed the evening sun. Both me and my wife enjoyed the home made burgers and fries . They came well presented and were beautiful. The kids loved their choices too from the kids menu . They were able to play on the slide and made really welcome by all the staff. The bill was reasonable also. A welcome addition to our list of local places to eat . We ' ll be back soon .

“A hidden gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

Wow. My partner and I eat out regularly and have tried most of the local establishments, it was only when we were looking for somewhere new to try and consulted trip advisor that we found the olive grove. We had driven past it many times and didn't think it looked up to much, but the reviews left us curious. I'm very glad we went.

It was a very busy Thursday evening, but the food was served in good time considering the party in before us and the fact it was cooked fresh. Food was well presented, incredibly tasty and amazing value. Portions were on the large side but that's not a bad thing. The menu choice was excellent, it's not often that I as a vegetarian get a decent selection. My partner as a meat eater also had a fab choice.

The owner introduced himself as we were leaving which was nice and informed us of a free taxi service that they offer for locals as a collect and return. So no more being the designated driver! What a brilliant idea! We will definitely be returning sooner rather than later!

I must also say thank you to the dark haired man behind the bar for his brilliant friendly efficient service, it's not often you see that!
