Called in about 3pm pub was very quiet but then again England was playing in world cup so plenty parking and empty tables, staff made contact as soon as you walked in, shown to table, drink order taken, we opted for carvery two sizes of plate available one a couple of £ cheaper than the other. We went for one of each, three roast joints on offer, beef, turkey, gammon, your choice, choose one or all three, once your meat is on plate you get large Yorkshire pudding and stuffing balls, mashed, roast, or boiled potatoes, peas, cauliflower cheese, carrots, parsnips, mashed swede, broccoli, plus other veg and gravy.
Toilets at each end of bar, disabled loos, blue badge parking available.
Would we return yes but on a non football Sunday MAKE A RESERVATION

Called in today as have never visited before. We will definitely be back. Cod goujons were amazing. Full of fish and lovely crispy batter. Dad had sausage and new potatoes. Said potatoes were best he had had for a long time. Unfortunately we couldn’t partake of the free ice cream as we were too full. Great value for money. Staff are so friendly even to the point of turning background music down as a bit loud for Dad’s hearing aid. Can’t wait to go back again.

The place was buzzing when I went in; so a definite sign that it’s got something to offer. It’s traditional in its furnishings and nicely casual in its ordering arrangement. But enough of the waffle; what’s the food like? It’s the food that counts in the end; and I must say – it was top notch as far as traditional English meals are concerned. Nothing short of the best tasting examples of meat and veg I’ve had in years. Everyone has given this place a thumbs up – for good reason. Go try it out.

Not expensive, but surprised the amount of meat for standard size was a bit meagre. On our last 2 visits, there has been less meat than before. Found the Yorkshire tough and the roast vegetables not as hot as I would have preferred. Comfortable seating and surroundings.

Hi David....
Please do look back over the hundreds and hundreds of reviews and you will find that this is the first time anyone has stated our meat portions are meagre.... in fact we have folk asking for foil to take some neat home...
Our Yorkshire puds are never tough, but if you had one that was to crispy for you, the Chef would have been only to happy to change it, again if you like your vegetables straight out of the oven, then this cannot happen with a carvery, we serve Hot vegetables that are put out fresh as we use them, the CARVERY unit keeps a hot temp as do the heating lights above, but I understand some folk like them boiling...
David if you ever have the need to speak to a Chef or front if house , they will be onky to happy to look after you..
Hope to see you soon
