“Superb lunch... ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2014 via mobile

I popped in for lunch on the way to Cornwall from Exeter. Greeted by a member of staff, who opened the door for me. Service was prompt, and there was attention to detail. Place was impeccably impeccably clean. I ordered a ham and cheese ploughman's lunch... It was served within 8 minutes... Food was excellent quality and value.. I will be back.
In response to a previous review, Yes most of the staff were foreign, but that did not adversely affect my experience. They were all very polite and smiled throughout my time there.... Something many of our British nationals could learn to do!

“Slow service. Cold food and foreign staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2014 via mobile

A couple of us had a meal here after being told there was a new chef by our friends
After booking our table we herd great things
What happened ??
We were shown to our table by a non speaking English girl our order was late cold and when we complained to the waitress she did not understand so was asked to talk to the owner . Being told he was upstairs and does not like to be disturbed in the evening as he does not work nights ( not a good start)
The foreign lady seemed confused when a English lady came over .
she was very apologetic and advised us the chef that seemed to have turned the place around had left recently due too the over run of Spanish individuals
And this is why the service was slow and food was not too par
We then decided too leave and go else where we were very disappointed and hungry
We shall not be going here again such a shame after we herd great things and it turned out less then bad .....
Avoid at all costs !!

“Trysts with snacks.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 December 2013

I got brought here by an enthusiastic short term girlfriend who said that it was a discrete and cheap venue for occasional afternoons or nights in a setting very close to Plymouth but where the staff were efficient and you were never likely to meet anyone you might know in any other context. The hotel is clean warm tidy and adequately comfortable. It served out purposes perfectly. We certainly worked up our appetites and the supper in the quaintly and ironically named Bistro 38 (after the very nearby dual carriageway) more than met our needs. Good value reasonable tasty and hearty meals quickly and pleasantly served. Not much atmosphere, but to be fair that was not why we here. Would definitely return if a similar opportunity arose.
