Stayed in room 12. Paid £80 B&B. Room was very comfy and quiet, plus well equipped with stereo, tv and Molton Brown toiletries. Felt like a pricier hotel. Lovely setting, lots of parking. A lovely venue for a relaxing weekend away.

My husband and I stayed for one night at the Villa Hotel.

The room wasn't huge but was well furnished and comfortable. There were all the usual bits and bobs, trousers press, drinks tray, bottled water, etc. The room also had aircon which I am sure if it wasn't freezing for July. As it was the heating was more useful (and more than adequate.)

The bar and restaurant were lovely and very quirkily furnished. We ate in the restaurant but bar meals were an option. Husband and I both had fillet steak which was served with red onion rolypoly. It was wonderful, one of those meals that you know will stick in your memory and come our discussion even in several years time.

Equally impressive was how they dealt with a problem on the next table. The gentleman complained his T-bone steak was tough. The waiter immediately offered to change it. Two minutes later the waiter was back to say that as all the T-bone was from the same batch the chef was taking it off the menu so would the customer consider something else instead. Later another table tried to order T-bone steak, a different waiter at once said it was off the menu due to a quality problem. I was very impressed by the way they handled the problem and it was nice to see a customer so happy with how the problem was handled instead of having an upset evening.

After our meal we retired to the bar and live jazz.

A great break.

This place is small, friendly, personal, and clean. It does what it says on the tin. Good food, choice of dining room or bar for evening meal. Great breakfast, and lovely clean rooms, What more could you want.

My family have been devotees of The Villa for many years and always had a fine dining experience.

Sadly, we have had several poor meals this year i.e. ?'smash' potatos, gloopy cheese, hot food / cold plates etc. Despite a lengthy yet constructive e-mail we have had no response, dissapointing treatment of once loyal customers.

The Villa is a beautifully designed restaurant and bar with a small hotel attached in the pretty village of Wrea Green near Lytham.

It is justifiably proud of a number of accolades including Best Lancashire small hotel and judging by the number of people having Sunday lunch, it is very well-thought of by locals.

The bar and restaurant areas are well designed and very cosy with an open if smoky fire and lovely wood panelling. The rooms are in modern wing and lack the character and charm but are light and functional.

The menu is fairly traditional with a few modern twists. We ate in the main restaurant both nights and the food was really well presented by a young and enthusiastic (although occasionally slightly amateurish) team of staff. There seemed to be plenty of good local produce utilised as well although the Cheese board had a french cheese paired with Sage Derby and Red windsor which seems a shame when there are some great local Lancashire producers like Mrs Kirkham just down the road.

We had a lovely relaxing stay and would definately return. Sadly the experience was slightly marred by a cupole of poorly handled operational issues. On the first night (Saturday) we were a bit dismayed to find there was no hot water. The nice recptionist apologised and explained that the boiler was playing up. We endured a lukewarm shower and shaved in kettle water. Later on this issue was discussed with the man running the bar who was very apologetic and informed us that he had informed a manager who would compensate us for this on Monday morning upon checkout. The same gentleman reiterated this on Sunday.

When checking out there was an older woman on reception. She did not posess the charm of the rest of the staff and claimed that the problem on Saturday was not the boiler but the fact that everyone was taking a shower at the same time!!!

Begrudgingly she knocked a Tenner off my £350 Bill. I was so surprised by her confrontational attitude that
I failed to query the rest of the bill. A few minutes later I realised that it was very complicated and hard to understand. I was sure both myself and another couple travelling with us had been wrongly charged. Fortunately a very pleasent member of management was at reception when I returned, who sorted out and explained the complexities of their billing structure. As I thought I had been incorrectly charged.

These niggles have not disuaded me from recommending the Villa or from returning. The check out though left a faint unpleasent aftertaste in my mouth.
