Visited this hotel first time as family of 4. Our room a little bit dirty as I could expect ... I found empty crisp bag under a arm chair when I moved and some small green soldier toy. I supposed cleaners not doing what they pay for... Missing some towers too as they give us only two sets for 4 people but ask for more in reception and they bring them quick to the room. Breakfast was very nice over all but not enough toasts and nobody ask if we want more...but not matter as nobody is perfect. Ideal could be bread selection and toaster on the side table where they have all juices and fruits. That could solve the problem. Over all was nice stay, good location for us and recommend this hotel to anyone who look to visit Blackpool and area.

Service and cleanliness are attributes that we pride ourselves on and I apologise for the indiscretions that you encountered during your stay here. These errors will be discussed.
Its a shame that you didn't mention them at the time of your stay and then we could have addressed the issues accordingly. Thank you for recommending us and we hope you are able to return yourselves in the future also.

Beautiful setting on the River Wyre. Rooms were nice/comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating from booking to departure. We stayed for one night and had an evening meal in the restaurant . The food was excellent but would have liked to have seen lighter options on the menu. Enjoyed the smoked haddock/poached eggs for breakfast.

Room Tip: We had rooms 2 & 3. Had an oblique view of river. I understand rooms at the front are preferable...

2 night stay at the Shard.

The good: spotless, well appointed room, spacious modern bathroom and very good nights sleep. Breakfast was of a high quality.

The bad: the noise from what I presume is the compressor was loud but was turned off through the night, although the breakfast was good the breakfast service was shocking. I had to ask for refills for the jugs of orange juice, I then had to ask for glasses on both days, we requested black pudding. Only to be told just before the food arrived that they had none left, but no substitution was offered, we were asked if we wanted more toast 1/2 way through the meal, we explained that we had yet to receive the toast we'd asked for 20 mins before. These are all very minor quibbles, but they take the shine off an otherwise good hotel experience and would prevent either a return visit or a positive recommendation.

I can only apologise for the poor and inefficient service that you received during your breakfast experiences. These issues will be addressed with the team members concerned and eradicated.
Our breakfasts are highly reviewed and praised by the vast majority of our guests and it is not acceptable to us that your experience did not reflect our consistency and high standards.
It is a shame that you consider this a reason not to return and hope that in time you change your mind and return to our hotel and receive the high standards of service that we aspire to.

After staying at the Shard several times we chose it for a one night stay on 9th August. As previously the food, quality of rooms and helpfulness of staff (especially Angela) was first class. However avoid room 8 unless you like hot rooms with noisy machinery outside the window which shut off at midnight and on again at 7, and kitchen clearance noise till late, or are deaf. I was up several times opening and shutting the window as it was stuffy then closing it because of the noise. However everything else was top notch and if you get a decent room you will enjoy your stay. The rate we paid would have been fine for a different room but I think a bit overpriced for this one.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front or car park are quieter.

Room 8 is the room that we tend to fill last unless, as with your stay, we coincide with large group bookings or the usual full weekend occupancy. Unfortunately the ventilation and cooling system can be heard but this is controlled as much as we can within business needs. It is one of our largest on the first floor and boasts a larger en-suite than most and though not having a scenic view it has its fan club of regular guests too!!

Went for a Sunday lunch for 2 of us, did not book but got a seat.
Pleasant atmosphere and staff were friendly enough.
We both ordered the beef @ £11.95 per head, the meal was well cooked but portions were small.
Everything came on one plate, even the gravy which I don't like, but my husband didn't mind.
For the area I feel their prices are on the high side, for what you get.
Overall, I felt it was just an average experience.

I have recently stayed at this hotel with family members and cannot praise it highly enough. Lovely clean rooms, very good food and very helpful staff. We were attending a wedding locally and the hotel was in just the right location. Nothing was too much trouble. We asked to book a taxi to take us to our wedding venue and bring us back and this was done promptly and efficiently. The restaurant staff were welcoming and the food was extremely good with a great selection for starters and main courses. We all had a smoked salmon and king prawn salad which had so much salmon it was not possible to finish it. We also had parmesan and parsley frites which were so tasty. The wine was very good and my step-son thoroughly enjoyed the real ale. Sitting outside drinking coffee and having a digestif was very pleasant and the weather was kind to us. The river view was magic and we saw many seabirds and other bird life including many lapwings and a heron.

Breakfasts were extremely good and it was possible to have whatever combination of eggs, bacon, sausage etcetera you wanted. There were also kippers and haddock with poached eggs - yummy.

The hotel was within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland and also Blackpool, Fleetwood and Morecambe. We went to Beacon Fells which was about 45 minutes away and also to Clitheroe Castle which was worth a visit especially if you have children.

Would happily return. Thank you so much Jenny Lund

...and a nice relaxing review for me to respond to!
This location lends itself to relaxation with the river views, bird life and we aim to provide the service and food standards to compliment our 'vista ' and all our guests. I guess we achieved our goals and we thank you for recognising us.

Stopped here for one night at the beginning of August after a recommendation, was certainly not disappointed. The room had a river view and was clean and spacious. We booked a table for a meal in the evening, was very impressed, a great starter of black pudding & asparagus followed by a hake dish both perfect in every sense of the word. As a member of CAMRA I found the real ale available at the bar was in perfect condition. Would love to go here again
