Visited with another disabled friend this morning - good parking available for blue badge holders on request. Mostly flat pathways. My friend did the house tour and thought it was very good although was limited to the ground floor only. I sat outside the Peacock Café with plenty of seating both inside, and outside with sunshades. Food and drink at very reasonable prices. Loved seeing the wildlife wandering around us - peacocks, peahens, chickens etc. Extensive gardens to wander round too for the more mobile.

“lovely house & dissapointing gardens”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

Overall we enjoyed our visit but whilst the house was very interesting & our guide very informative we felt that the gardens needed a little TLC. The gardens immediately around the house were lovely but the extended walks were no better than any other ramble. The café/restaurant was very good & reasonably priced.

“Lovely house and beautiful gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

The house is in a lovely setting on the edge of Bodmin Moor. It is still a family home but nearly all the rooms can be viewed and have very interesting things to see.

What made our visit was our guide, named Sue, who not only knew all about the house and the family but also made the tour entertaining with amusing anecdotes about the house and the area. If you are lucky enough to have her for your guide you will love this place.

“Great Afternoon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

Have visited here before several years ago so thought it was about time for another visit.
Lovely sunny day in July, arrived around 1pm and were able to book a house tour for 1.30. We were very surprised when the tour started that there were only 4 people on the tour, great from our point of view as it was nearly 1 to 1.
Fantastic tour with a very knowledgeable guide (Margaret) who made this such an interesting visit. We spent time walking the gardens and walked up to the lake before returning to the tea rooms. Unfortunately nothing took our fancy so we just had 3 cups of tea sat in the courtyard,
Finally a visit to the shop where we purchased a few items.

Great afternoon out.

“nice for adults”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014

this is a great visit for adults with an interest in history and has some lovely gardens, but alas isn't great for children as they got board on the tour. however we did meet the owner of the estate who was lovely and very friendly to our children.
