Booked in to Trehellas House straight after New Year for a little break away before returning to work on their Cornish Break Deal - this included the room, three course dinner with bottle of wine,lovely breakfast, and all at a very reasonable price. We were a bit wary after reading some of the reviews on here but we had an amazing couple of days away. We stayed in the Padstow room which was lovely - yes the bathroom could have done with a bit of an update but not enough to spoil our stay. We could book in for dinner whenever we wanted and the evening meal we had on both nights was really tasty and served in a lovely restaurant. i can thoroughly recommend the cheeseboard - it was delicious. The hotel is very well placed for visiting all the little gems Cornwall has to offer and even though we didnt use the pool as it was the beginning of January, I can imagine that in the summer that is a very nice place to relax after a days sightseeing in the summer. We loved our stay here and we will hopefully return again very soon.

This was a very nice quaint Hotel. Excellent room and really comfortable bed. The Shower wasnt great....and there was a problem with the basin but nothing major. Breakfast was very good and the service excellent. We were told by family that the restaurant is very very good but the lack of a real bar - drinks are available but seem to appear via a fridge somewhere away from reception - which maybe why they were a little pricey for the area. There is room for a Bar with some layout changed that wouldnt impact the uniqueness of the place. Really good , shame about the bar and shower.

Ok, so visited this place with work colleagues for Christmas Lunch. First off the place has less atmosphere than The Moon, Staff didn't look too pleased to us, or anyone for that matter.
I had three course meal for £20:00, which I guess was reasonably priced, however let's go through the courses.
STARTER - Sliced salmon Gravadlax + leaves + lemon oil + whole meal bread. A small plate with a few salad leaves, a couple of halved cherry tomatoes and some cucumber. The Salmon was virtually non-existent, half a dozen pieces about the size of a thumbnail scattered across the salad leaves, looking rather lost and forlorn! Bread was stale and butter rock hard.

MAIN - Turkey with stuffing, chipolata and seasonal vegetables. Meat was tasty, but disappointed that there was a plain cocktail chipolata, as opposd to traditional sausage wrapped in bacon. NO SPROUTS, whats that all about, can't get much more seasonal than a Brussel Sprout, everyones favourite to love or hate and an absolute must for a Xmas dinner. Portion size for meat OK, but too little veg, three potatoes served with plate and three small oval servers containing a combination of carrots, parsnip and broccoli between ten people.

SWEET - Not home made, a chocalate tart that shouldn't have been served straight from the fridge but almost certainly was (probably stored next to the granite like butter)

Finally COFFEE and FUDGE - Coffe was cold, the sugar lumps were bigger than the pieces of fudge, there were 12 people there and approx ten and a half miniscule opieces of fudge.

All in all rather dissappointing, not worth the money and to cap it all a small soda with a dash of lime will set you back nearly three pounds. This is one place that my colleagues and I will not return to, poor value, unhappy staff and felt more like being in a morgue than a restaurant.
