“Amazing wedding venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2013 via mobile

“A fairytale wedding”...”fantastic venue”...”brilliant food”...”beautiful setting”...”a real classy wedding”...these were just a few of the many glowing comments we got from our friends and family who attended our wedding on the 1st December 2013 at Ringwood Hall Hotel. We had the perfect day, the food was brilliant and portions were very generous, the layout and setting of the Ringwood suite for our ceremony, meal and evening reception was beautiful and the staff were absolutely fantastic. The grounds had so many unique settings for photographs. The suite we had overnight included in our package was very luxurious and was a perfect end to our day, especially with our late supper plate waiting for us. The wedding package we booked far exceeded our expectations, the kids absolutely loved Santa’s chocolate goody bags and the choir singing Christmas carols added a special note to the arrival drinks. We were absolutely thrilled with everything and cannot find one negative thing to say, we can’t wait to go back on our anniversary and use the facilities which we didn’t have the time to even see never mind use. An extra special mention to our wedding co-ordinator Lindsay who was always on hand for help and advice and who co-ordinated everything to a tee, John our master of ceremonies who was an absolute star and made sure our day ran smoothly, Alan one of the waiting staff who worked non-stop during the meal to ensure everyone was topped up and who sought us out even after his long shift to wish us a long and happy marriage, and lastly to Kath and her team at Classy Weddings who made the chairs and tables look very Christmassy and which tied in with our theme. We would recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding, we could not have chosen better.

Wow! This is a wonderful review and just exactly what we hope to achieve.

Your choice of a Festive date and your wish for a themed wedding around Christmas, gave us the opportunity to do just that. Our lavish and extensive Festive decorations are indeed quite magical, and the atmosphere is always enhanced by the Festive choir on our grand sweeping staircase, the log fire in the lounge, and of course the visit from Santa with gifts for the children.

Working with the Classy Wedding team the presentation of the civil ceremony room and wedding breakfast room is, as you say, magical. The exquisitely dressed chairs and tables with their magical centres are stunning and your room in particular looked amazing.

Our Festive package is designed to be just that, and every detail is fine tuned and personalised to your own requirements, providing a fabulous wedding at Christmas.

Lindsay, John and Chef have asked me to convey their thanks to you for your kind words, and we thank you for your recommendation that Ringwood is a truly amazing wedding venue, and that if you are looking for a wedding at Christmas, look no further.

We look forward to seeing you on your return for your first anniversary celebration, but in the meantime wish you a wonderful first married Christmas together and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2014.

For the fourth year running, the Ringwood hall Hotel has been the venue for our disparate family to gather for our Family Christmas Lunch, and every year it is perfect because of their hospitality.

Even when one year the snow was 6 feet deep and snow ploughs were clearing the car park, the staff, who had to contend with all the problems that engendered, looked after us impeccably along with two large wedding receptions.

This year was again a huge success, not least because of the attention to detail and efficiency of the staff, and the excellence of the chefs in the kitchen. We are a happy bunch, but when you arrive to smiling receptionists, and are shown to a magnificent private room which has been beautifully and festively decorated you cannot have anything but a good time.

We are a small party of eight, yet we were served throughout by two very smart and helpful waiters, who tendered to our every need throughout the event, and served a wonderful Christmas meal.

The majority of us had the traditional turkey with all the trimmings which was superb and went far beyond, both in presentation, taste, and quantity, the rather ordinary offerings some establishments present. However, we also have one member of our family who is a vegetarian and he was served with his request, a spaghetti bolognese made with quorn, which he swiftly devoured.

We all had a wonderful time, mainly of course because we were all together which due to geography does not happen as often as we would like, but also because we were in a great place run by people who obviously believe in looking after their customers.

We will be back again next year.

David D.

It`s always our pleasure to welcome you and your family for your annual gathering the first weekend in December.

Your delightful review was a pleasure to read and I am very grateful that you have given us such a glowing report.

The Festive season is always a very special time to spend at Ringwood, as we do go to great lengths to dress our public areas and dining rooms, and as you so kindly point out, even if the weather starts to become a challenge, it certainly does not disrupt family plans and arrangements. In fact with our lovely parkland setting and our cosy log fire, if anything the bad weather enhances the quality of the stay.

Delighted that you found the service and the quality of the food to be of its usual very high standard. You may be certain that I will convey your generous praise to all those concerned.

You are quite correct, our philosophy is that the customer`s requirements always come first, and as I have said in many previous responses, I am truly blessed at Ringwood with a dedicated team of caring, considerate yet professional individuals who take pleasure in looking after our guests` needs.

May I take this opportunity of wishing you and all your family members a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year, and we look forward to welcoming you back next year.

Me and my fiancé stayed at this lovely hotel on the Friday and Saturday using a kgb deal for 99 for two nights. Although we were located away from the main building it was only a two min walk. The room was very nice, spacious and had a lovely large bath. Food was fantastic we paid £20 for three courses and it was delicious. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was a buffet but was also very filling with a large selection. Facilities were also good and we made good use if the steam room and sauna. Staff we're also very friendly and we're always on hand to help. Overall a very good hotel and we will def be back again!!!

Thank you for leaving your lovely review following your recent two night break with us at Ringwood Hall Hotel.

Our extra special rates are available through to March of next year and do provide a very cost effective way of staying at the hotel and enjoying our excellent facilities. The KGB rate was only available on sale until the end of November, however please check our website when you are thinking of a return visit as we do feature some very special deals in the winter months online.

Your accommodation would have been in our Bothy rooms which are located out of the main building, and are delightful rooms, large and spacious with bath and walk-in shower, and you can park your car right outside them. With just a two minute walk to the hotel, as you say, they are perfect for "getting away from it all".

Delighted that you obviously had a wonderful time and that the warm and friendly welcome that you experienced will be ensuring your return visit.

I stayed at Ringwood Hall Hotel for two nights for a wedding in November 2013. However for £96 per night I would have expected a better experience. Some of the staff need training during a family meal on the evening before the wedding one female staff member was shouting across the restaurant at her collegue on a couple of occasions and this did not make for a nice relaxing evening. I had to return my meal as the rice was uncooked and crunchy. The breakfast was only warm on both occasions. Little things spoilt it like disposable plastic cups in the room. The building itself was lovely and the setting for a wedding was great but with a little training it could be perfect.

Thank you for your recent review following your two night stay with us.

Looking at the positive side of your stay delighted that you found the hotel to be well appointed and a perfect setting for a wedding.

I will look into the feedback that you provided with regard to the shortfall in standards in the restaurant and appreciate that just sometimes we do get it wrong.

On the point of disposable cups in the bathroom. A decision was taken to use these in preference to glasses following an incident which could have resulted in injury with broken glass. Not always our first choice, however sometimes health & safety considerations do make you look at things from a different perspective.

Our rate for guests attending a wedding is, in fact, great value as it does include full English breakfast, free on site secure parking, free wifi if required, and full membership of our newly refurbished Parklands Health & Fitness Club, with indoor pool, sauna, steamroom and well equipped gymnasium.

From first sight it is a lovely hotel. my wife is disabled, so we had a suitable room which was spacious with a huge bed & a wet room larger than some studio flats I've seen. It was scrupulously clean & everything worked well.

Every where you go there are steps, but always someone ready to put a ramp down for my wife's wheelchair, so no real problem.

We were there for a wedding, which was exceptionally well organised & went of flawlessly. Although I understand there were a few glitches behind the scenes, we as guests were unaware of any.

Breakfast was good, although first comers were unable to have fried eggs, only scrambled, as they were waiting for the oil to cool down before they could do them?

Yes reception were a bit pushy with their room cards, but I always leave a swipe of my card & charge to my room anyway so not a problem.

The restaurant was generally good, the Moules Mariner, (presumably Del Boy wrote the menu) were beautifully cooked.

I found £22 for a ribeye steak rather steep for what was more like a piece of beef bacon than a steak.

I don't like the trend of bringing everything in pots & expecting you to plate up yourself, the chips came in a little frying basket & my wife's lamb shank came in a small pot with mash smeared over the top. Will the next step be to bring raw food with a mini oven & hob then just leave you to get on with it?

As an aside, & nothing to do with Ringwood Hall as I haven't experienced one of theirs, but a bowl of stew with a separately cooked piece of puff pastry thrown on top does not constitute a pie.

Overall, a great weekend.

Room Tip: Take a wheelchair if you want a big shower room.:-)

Thank you for your recent review and, in particular your high praise of our disabled guest bedroom which has been designed to provide a high specification of space and quality for guests with limited mobility.

Thank you also for your lovely comments with regard to the wedding that you attended. I am guessing the glitch that you refer to was the delayed arrival of the bride....always the prerogative of the bride to be late !!

Interesting observations in respect of the menu and my apologies if you found the steak to be disappointing. Nonetheless it does not seem to have detracted from your enjoyment of the visit.

We hope to welcome you back on a future occasion.

A one night stay including a Murder Mystery evening. On arrival the staff couldnt have been friendlier or more pleasant. We had the added bonus or the Christmas Decorations being put up, which were lavish, festive and too numerous to count obviously no expense spared
We were directed to our room that was well decorated, modern, spacious spotlessly clean and warm.
Every request we made was fullfilled willingly by various staff around the premises.
The Murder Mystery itself was well acted and very funny (if a little crude in places) the cast friendly and amusing. A great evenings entertainment was had by all.. The food well cooked, tasty and plentiful, the serving staff very quick and proffessional.
All in all i would highly reccomend this hotel even though it has only been given a 3* rating. Ishall definatley retun again to sample this great hospitality in luxurious surroundings.
Thank you Ringwood Hotel

Thank you for leaving this excellent review following your overnight stay with us whilst attending a murder mystery evening.

Delighted that you enjoyed the murder mystery event both in terms of the plot and also the food served on the night.

AS a point of interest we are 3 star rated as opposed to 4 star, largely because of our inability to provide a lift. That said we have been awarded the highest possible percentage rating in our classification within the Peak District area, 86% which we have achieved and maintained for the last seven years.

Thank you also for making a special mention of our festive decorations which we do go to great lengths and cost, to ensure that a real feeling of festive cheer is created throughout the hotel. Our festive revellers, Christmas Break residents and of course, our very special Christmas wedding activity are always very appreciative of the special ambience that we create.

A wonderful phrase thank you, "great hospitality and luxurious surroundings" as that is exactly what we aim to achieve. We look forward to welcoming you back.

I booked the above rate online, it included dinner, bed and breakfast in an exec room. On the booking form it said PAY ON DEPARTURE. We arrived at this beautiful looking hotel and all looked wonderful. Then we checked in!!!!!! We were greeted quite curtly and were told to sign the form, then I was asked to get my PARTNER to sign it too!! My HUSBAND was quite offended by this. I asked why HE had to sign, as I was the one paying as this was MY present for HIM! I was told, again quite aggressively, if we both don't sign, we can't charge anything to the room. I never do this, so I said we don't charge things to the room, dinner was included! We were told then if we wanted a drink and the bar is closed, we wouldn't be able to have one!! I drink water and my husband has 1 drink with dinner, which he likes to buy! So I said I still don't want my husband to sign! I was rudely informed we would have to pay in full there and then then! I was very upset at this, as I thought, does this hotel not trust me? Do they think I am going to go without paying in the morning? I have never felt so embarrassed. We go to 100's of hotels and have never come across this level of bad service at a reception.
I had asked for a quiet room with a nice view, possibly near the pool. The view we had was of the pool building, you could hear the road when the very loud fan was off! A family with a crying child was put in the room opposite ( we were woken at 2am! ). but we were asked if we wanted help with our case.
The room was also freezing when we arrived, we went to the pool to warm up!!! Had to wait for the attendent to open the door, another couple said they had been waiting 5 minutes! the pool was very busy, but the changing rooms were very good.
Dinner was excellent, the food is plentiful and tasty. The waiters didn't know much about the menu, but they quickly went and found out. There was a man playing some music, which was a nice touch and the whole of the hotel was decorated with beautiful christmas fayre.
The bed was large and comfy and the tv was enormous, shame the bathroom wasn't! I hit my knee on the too large sink. Don't know what made this room an exec room!
Breakfast was fine, was amazed they don't do poached eggs at the weekend!!!! A nice touch was the offer of a cappuccino, but the staff really shouldn't moan about other customers in front of us!
The reception lady in the evening was lovely and offered to take a photo of us and the check out lady was also pleasant. she asked if we had had a good stay, I wanted to talk to the lady who checked us in, so I rang up the hotel on the monday! I was told the problems I had were hotel policy! I don't think she was too bothered that we wouldn't be back!

Room Tip: All rooms are called executive! Room 133 has no view and you can hear traffic.

An interesting review with some real mixed observations. I have, of course, written to you on a personal basis to address some of the concerns that you raised and also to thank you for your very positive feedback too.

Unfortunately in this day and age there is a need to consider taking payment on arrival if clients choose not to activate an account with a swipe of a card. At a busy check-in, it can be difficult to explain this without it appearing to be impolite. Sadly there are guests who leave the hotel without settling their accounts. I believe our policy to be no different from many hotel operators..

However it was a pleasure to read that you enjoyed the dining aspects of your stay, and to a great extent the presentation of your accommodation.

It is quite a paradox that, whilst we enjoy the benefit of 30 acres of gardens and parklands, only a limited number of our bedrooms actually have substantial views of the garden. If that is a priority consideration for staying at the hotel, then be certain to discuss this at length with the receptionist at the time of booking.
