Stayed here for two nights while attending a wedding. Staff made me feel so welcome. Room was lovely and spacious and had a great power shower. Breakfast was amazing - i'm a vegetarian and they even had a full veggie breakfast, which was delicious. The pub is set on a side road just a stone's throw away from all the shops including a giant Tesco. Really nice vibe in Heswall. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definately recommend this for others.

Room Tip: i asked for a room not on the ground floor, but in fairness all the rooms were upstairs anyway.

An excellent guest house with a very warm welcome. The service is superb and it's very clean. If you get chance, stay for a meal...The food is exceptional and the chef catered very easily for my coeliac diet. I just loved this little gem of a guest house and will definitely be returning.

We arranged to stay at The Jug and Bottle as we were due to attend a wedding locally. It cost us £70 for the two of us, for one night and included breakfast - for the price I was not expecting too much. A couple of days before we arrived we received a welcome email which included some helpful details (such as where to park), which was unexpected and welcomed. They were helpful enough to allow us an early check-in and when we arrived the downstairs (bar and restaurant) was beautifully presented and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room, though a little dated, was spacious, had lots of lovely windows and was very clean. Sadly we were unable to eat in the restaurant (the menu sounded delicious) but after a lovely nights sleep we did have a full cooked breakfast which was outstanding and made with good quality produce. We were so impressed to have found somewhere so nice at such a low price.

This is a review of the restaurant, not the hotel.
Thanks to T A we found this place for Sunday lunch, having been unable to get in at the Cottage Loaf in Thurstaston. We were very glad we didn't, as The Jug and Bottle is excellent.
Lovely decor, large pub area, bright sunny dining room, spotless loos. The menu choices are varied and we had difficulty choosing....the homemade burger was outstanding, so were the fish and chips and the potted Morecambe Bay shrimps. We could see other diners having the Sunday roast which also looked really good.
The service was particularly good here, we had some Wirral travel advice which was really useful.

Have stayed here before and enjoyed good service and reasonably priced rooms and booked well ahead (over a year) for when the Open Golf was being played locally this year. When I phoned nearer the time I really struggled to get anyone to confirm that we were still booked in and never got called back (despite many promises). It turned out of course that my booking had been removed when the owner realised he could make a lot more money than I had been quoted (I even had it in writing by the owner!!). Never had the decency to admit his greed but I did pay a sneaky visit during the week and saw the 2 rooms we had been booked 'Tipexed' out!! We had even been given room numbers which if you are staying is useful to know that 5 & 7 are the best rooms but I won't be parting with any money in this establishment any time soon.

We stopped off for Sunday Lunch at the Jug & Bottle. The food was excellent, I had the roast pork and my husband had the roast beef, both meals were presented beautifully and tasted great. This was our 2nd visit to this pub, it has a cosy feeling inside the pub and friendly staff and excellent food of a high standard. Definitely worth visiting if you are in Heswall.
