“Wouldn't bother again”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Visited twice whilst staying in Hoylake for pre dinner drinks. The first evening we sat outside at the front of the bar which was ok to watch the world go by and preferable to being inside which was just so ridiculously noisy you couldn't have a proper conversation! It wasn't overly packed but seems to be the accoustics or something - just very very noisy!
Tried again on a second evening to see if any better but again very noisy. We managed to get a seat in the beer garden at the rear but five minutes after we sat down we were moved on and told the beer garden was now closed - despite it being a warm evening. The only thing we could put it down to was the football being on??? Managed to get a seat in one of the booth style seats and this minimised the noise slightly but all in all not a great place to sit and chat over a drink.

“Excellent value and polite helpful staff”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

I have been staying in Hoylake for 3 days and had my evening meal in Witherspoons. I had steak on the first night and it was so good that I indulged in the same for the remaining 2 days of my stay.

“Excellent lunch”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Went into the Wetherspoons Hoylake Lights for some lunch with some of the family. We were just passing on a walk down the village while the Golf Open Championship was on. We decided to pop in as the place has just been refurbished. It looks really nice. Even though I live in Hoylake I don't really come in here. We ordered some toasted sandwiches which came with chips. They were really delicious, the best toasties we have tasted. The chips were also delicious. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We all said we would return. It was really good value £3.89 for a cheese and tomato toastie and chips. Well done Wetherspoons.

“not poor but below average”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Came to Hoylake today and called in for lunch. There was an offer on a meal and a drink for £5.99 so ordered a rump steak medium. The steak was not cooked properly but by the time the waitress came to check if all was ok it was too late to do anything about it. She did offer to rectify my complaint butI asked for a doggy bag and my dog Bella enjoyed it. The staff seemed competent and friendly. It was a bit off putting having a Stella promotion bar abd fridge being set up whilst we were eating, this should have been done early morning or when closed. Another two diners when asked said their food was fine but not hot enough and I saw two meals going back to the kitchen. Shame as I used to eat here regularly when I worked in Hoylake.
