“Best B&B EVER!”
Reviewed 21 October 2008

I actually found this wonderful B&B by accident. I booked tickets for LIverpool FC and as there was a Queen concert the same night found in near on impossible to book a hotel room for the Saturday night. Decided to try the Wirral, and was given Pendragons number by another B&B who were fully booked. What fantastic luck for us, this B&B is wonderful, beautiful property, peaceful location and immaculately clean, and Peter and Sue are so friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is delicious! we were very spoilt with all the usual items for a cooked breakfast PLUS smoked salmon on the scrambled eggs!
The train station is a few minutes walk away and a 25 minute easy, cheap journey into Liverpool, perfect for us as we could leave the car safely parked in the drive of the B&B and not have to worry about parking or driving in Liverpool City centre.
Hoylake itself has plenty of nice bars and cafe's but in a nice peaceful location.
We will definately be returning, we loved Liverpool, friendly people, vibrant, clean city and the Best Football Team in the World!

  • Liked — Fantastic, beautiful property. Immaculately clean, everything you could need and super friendly
  • Disliked — The Manchester United book in the sitting room! shock horror! :-))

Highly recommend this great, well kept B&B. We were guests as a result of checking out of totally horrible place in West Kirby and arrived in a desperate panic with our luggage in a taxi and the meter running! Thankgoodness there was a spare room due to a no show!

Peter couldn't have been a better host. He was welcoming without being intrusive. Having the real milk on the landing was genius- why don't more places do this? As a previous reviewer mentioned the rooms are so well equipped; really everything has been thought of and the furnishings are of a good quality. Plenty of hanging space and little extras which make guests feel welcome. Ours was a small double which is usually only let as a single (the other rooms are huge!- I took a peek!) but it suited us fine. The shower room is lovely with a wide range of toiletries on hand. Lots of information in a smart folder to help plan your visit.
Peter is a keen golfer and if you are too, I feel sure he would be a good choice of host and be happy to advise.

Breakfast was outstanding. Very fresh with everything you could possibly want cooked to order.

All this for £60 per room inc full English for 2!

The whole property is immaculate and Peter and Susan deserve every success.

PS if you need a taxi the service they recommend is very prompt and reliable. Local trains (Wirral line) are also clean and punctual. Around 30 mins into centre of Liverpool.

  • Liked — The welcome, the clean property and the fantastic breakfast!
  • Disliked — Tiny criticism is that it was a little bit chintzy for some modern tastes!

Stayed at this B&B the weekend just gone and it was brilliant, they couldnt do enough for us, and every little thing had been thought of. Wine glasses and corkscrew in room, hairdryer, tv, fab bathrooms with loads of cotton balls, shower gel, thick towels, great showers, full english breakfast, fridge on landing with real milk for tea and coffee, biscuits in room, mints by bed, cupboard full of bits and pieces like toothbrushes and razors in case you forgot something that you are welcome to help yourself to. Overall GREAT VALUE FOR FANTASTIC SERVICE. We were going to stay at a posh 4 star but they only had doubles, now we are glad that we didnt, as it wouldnt have been as good service and we would have paid three times as much. Also walking distance to the seafront.

We were attending a wedding in the area and found this place online - it's a lovely B&B with clean, well kept rooms and comfy beds. There was no curfew but we still managed to get up in time for breakfast which was delicious. The owners Peter abd Susan were really friendly and helpful. Overall we felt it was great value and would recommend it highly!
