This is our local Indian restaurant so we are regulars there and rarely disappointed. The menu is much wider than you would see generally with many unusual dishes including duck and a wide choice of fish dishes as well as all the usual favourites.
This is emphatically north Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. As you read the menu be aware that 'mild' does mean very mild, 'heavy', 'rich' and/ or 'creamy' will be very heavy, rich and/ or creamy, and some dishes are slightly sweet or sweet-sour (with a spoon of mango chutney stirred in) so read carefully if these are not to your taste (we tend to opt for something lighter and spicier).
Portions are enormous. What you don't eat can be packed up for you to take home. Dessert menu is disappointing, more English than Indian, no halvas or kheer or gulab jamun, but to be honest once we have had starter and main course we are done anyway.
Pleasant decor, proper napkins, really good service. Complimentary liqueurs and After Eights.
Our meal this week - starter then main course - was £50 for two including drinks and tip, and as usual we brought some of it home.
There is street parking outside but if on a rare occasion you don't find a space there is a free public car park accessible from Allport Lane (3 minutes walk).
Take-away service also available.
