We attended a wedding fair with it being a possibility for a venue for a wedding.
From the moment on parking up,you knew this was a substandard Hotel.
The hotel rooms and corridors were old, filthy and the main part of the hotel was smelly.
Toilets were like something you would expect to find in a nightclub around 3-00am.
Staff were hard to find and were not trained in meeting&greeting.
I cannot comment on sleep quality or the rooms, but the function rooms, halls etc were awful.
This hotel best summed up is,An aging decaying 2 star poor mans conference centre,A major cash injection, refurb&change of management may just save the day...

Room Tip: Be prepared for long walks in this sprawling hotel.

We booked this hotel as it looked beautiful and needed close proximity to Legoland. The Whitehouse is actually beautiful although we didn't actually stay in that part, unbeknown to us there was an ugly modern building set behind the grand beauty which was to become ours and many others' accommodation!
The hotel had two weddings going on when we arrived (one holding 400 guests) so this is not the place to stay if you are looking for a quiet escape. We attempted a bar meal that evening but there was no children's menu and the buffet in restaurant was £9.95 for kids! There is plenty of choice in Windsor of restaurants/cafes etc and I would recommend the 5 minute journey just to have a decent/fairly priced meal (especially with children).
The room was fair, no fridge though - we requested for our room to be freshened up but after a long day at Legoland our towels were where we left them and beds un-made. The fan in the bathroom did not work, the shower was over the bath and didn't give you much space to wash.
Breakfast was a nightmare (mostly because of the volume of guests) - we were not offered tea/coffee on either mornings, you help yourself to a buffet style breakfast which was 'fair'.
The hotel is situated under the flight path to Heathrow airport so if like me you are a light sleeper then take earplugs as there must have been a plane every minute ~ day and night!
On the plus side, the hotel caters very well for children's entertainment outside, with a bouncy castle and outdoor borad games for your use free of charge. Also the hotel is set in massive grounds and acres. We took a stroll through the enchanted wood, had we known we would have taken a football and tennis gear as there is a large pitch area and tennis courts for guests to use.
When checking out, there were only two staff in reception and about fifteen frustrated people waiting their turn. There were a lot of people complaining about the service and overall I would say the hotel could do a lot better.

Room Tip: ask for a room/suite in the white house

Arrived at a very beautiful building and grounds - then went downhill. Booked in for a Wedding a 2pm after a long journey hoping to get in our rooms to change for the wedding (being held in the hotel) We were aware check in was 3pm - too late for guests to change - but numerous of couples in the party had been promisedby various members of staff prior to the day, that 6 rooms would be made available for wedding guests to wash and change.

Reception was noisy and completely chaotic, rooms saved story was untrue - there were no rooms available as hotel had been full the night before so we were left to stress until housekeeping had odd rooms ready at various times. Leasure changing facilities were offered.

One of our party needed a wheelchair we had to wait for another elderly guest to check out beore this was available - only 1 in a hotel with over 400 rooms! and that only had one foot rest (which happened to be the wrong rest for what we needed) stair lift in the corridor was broken.

The bride had booked in the day before the wedding and on her wedding day, the room was not cleaned. After 3 requests by a member of her family to see to their room - they spent their wedding night in a room which had received no housekeeping at all.

Breakfast brought back memories of Butlins canteens. Cavernous and noisy. Tea stone cold, replaced by coffee - but did not take away cold tea, this was left on the table for the duration of a not very nice breakfast.

Due to two very nice families, we tried not to let these, and many other "niggles" spoil the couples big day. Not very nice memories to take away from a wedding.

Would not return under any circumstances. I felt they traded on the look of a beautiful building and grounds, but there was nothing else to support it.

My boyfriend took me on a romantic break to this hotel for my birthday. When we got there we found we had been given a complimentary upgrade to a suite - it was bigger than my flat! We stayed in the Whitehouse in an amazing room with a dining table, sofas, huge bathoom and beautiful view of the extensive grounds. It was lovely and definitely the nicest room I've stayed in. We had a reasonable room service meal and a good breakfast the next morning in the smart dining room. We also loved the free soft drinks available in the fridges in the bars and the swimming pool. Overall very relaxing, quite and lovely place.

Stayed here for a weekend break. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds close to the river. The rooms are comfortable with everything in good order. Food was good, but not up to the same standard as other PH hotels. The service was generally poor both in the restuarant and at reception. Pool area was overcrowded and dirty, however the gym was good. I would probably consider staying here again.

Don't be fooled by the hotel group's website. This isn't a luxury hotel in the grounds of another, larger hotel, but the attached wing of a conference facility/Xmas party venue for binge-drinking sales reps. The website promises luxurious toiletries in the bathrooms. Hmm - 3ml of bog standard shampoo and bath gel for a two night stay?

Clearly designed by a person who's never had to use a plug socket - or put on mascara - the room lighting's bad and there's nowhere to plug anything in unless you plug something else out or move the furniture (or set up your kettle on the floor). There are no newspapers on offer, unless you want to read the Daily Telegraph.

And why does the only open bar area have to have sky sports on 24/7, as well as really loud music? How does that make for a relaxing, luxurious stay?

The bed was comfy and the rooms were quiet. But, really, the main problem for this hotel is pretending to be something it's not.

Oh, and the corridor which joins the two hotels is just like the one from The Shining. Need I say more?
