“Don't expect anything Special...”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

I booked this hotel to entertain some guests following a hospitality event at Royal Ascot. From the pictures it looks beautiful and we were really pleased with the price. The common areas in the main entrance are lovely and really looks like an upmarket hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. When we were told our room number we were presented with a map to help us find it...it was a good 10 minute walk away! We were carrying heavy bags and still wearing heels from our day at Ascot. It was very unpleasant. The room was OK decent size but a bit shabby around the edges. Bathroom shower was broken so when it turned on it shot all around the room because the holder was loose. The worst part was dinner. I checked online that it would be a decent restaurant and it showed an "a la carte" restaurant so I booked there instead of their grill bar. Unfortunately there was also a huge buffet restaurant in the same room so it was busy and noisy and not an elegant place to have dinner at all. It took 1/2 hour for our drinks to come and then a further hour for our food to come - We didn't order starters! Luckily our guests saw the funny side of it. When the food did come it was mediocre which you don't expect for a £25 steak. I think this hotel is good for families with children on a budget because there was some entertainment there but not great for business travelers or couples wanting that little bit extra. We did sample the breakfast in the morning which in my opinion was awful and I am not fussy at all. They need to do a lot of work.

Room Tip: If you have issues with walking then ask to be in the main house.

Booked in around 6, Not too busy. They had also mislaid my companies credit card authorisation, checked again this morning, checked again and said would call me back but never did. So no dinner and no breakfasts until that's sorted.

I was staying in the 300's bedrooms which is right in a block at the end of the estate on the 1st floor, if you have any kind of disability or problems walking, then ask straight away for a closer room, I kid you now...it's just short of a quarter of a mile walk if you go through all the corridors in the hotel, much easier to book in and go back to your car and drive it.

In the morning the shower had no cold water so scalding hot was the only setting and then main light in the room started flickering constantly, called reception and they said it would be sorted today, I'll update, but not great for Day 1.

Room Tip: Any room higher than 100 is going to have to walking a long way.

We stayed here for one night for a dinner function. We took the kids (14 and 8) and got a family room for a very reasonable rate that was cheaper than the double we had originally booked. Check in was fine although it did get very busy later on. The room was nice in the north block. It had a double bed and a double sofa bed for the kids. The room was very modern with nice views over the grounds. It was stifling hot and if it wasn't for the fan it would have been too warm by far. I don't understand why they don't install air con when spending so much on the building in the first place?!?! Anyway the room was ok, no hot water in the morning but I rang reception and the man was there to fix it within two minutes. By the time we got back from breakfast it was ok. The gym looked okay although I didn't use it. We did use the pool which was fine and quiet. The changing rooms and showered were a bit tired with paint peeling and a few bits missing here and there. The bar is expensive, £5.00 for a pint of Bud, £11.90 for a double vodka and soda. Didn't eat dinner here so cannot comment on that. Breakfast was hectic and a bit like an all inclusive in Spain, but what I had was nice. There is a Harvester pub a short walk away that was very reasonable. I would stay here again, it's in a top location for Legoland and all the other attractions.

Hotel looks amazing in all websites, 4 star rating, just what we needed after a hectic week in London, sightseeing! Do not be fooled, this hotel is nowhere near a 4 star! Room are disgusting, old food under the bed, walls are all cracked, bedding stained. We spoke to reception, and were moved to a " nicer " room, this was in exactly the same state as the first? We returned to reception, no alternative was offered, so we were forced to check out and find something else! I am absolutely disgusted that not a single manager came to discuss the room with us and no attempt was made to satisfy our complaints!
Stay here at your own risk!

Room Tip: Run as fast as you can away from the beaumont estate

Decided to stay at this hotel as they did a (what was described as a pamper package). This included breakfast, chocolates in room and champagne. Ooo, sounded lovely. Got to the hotel about 2, was very busy but lots of people staffing reception. Got to counter and they said our room was available. We asked if there was any chance of an upgrade due to our anniversary/holiday. The guy stated the room was £23, but he would do it for £20. Whoop, bargain! The room wasnt available so could we come back later? That was fine as we were early for check in.

When we came back, there was another queue for checking in. But lots of staff again so got our key pretty quickly.

Half a mile later, down corridors and up stairs (not good if disabled) we found our room. Not very big considering the description said it had a seating area! Our bedroom at home is bigger than this room. We found the chocolates and champagne. The box of chocolates contained a whole 2 chocolates, so dont get excited about this package.

Room its self was very hot, dusty and the state of the quilt was enough to make you sick - blood and urine stains all over it, we only saw this in the morning so spent the night under that muck! The bed was so soft me and my hubby rolled into the middle. We did have a fan in the room and it was much needed.

We turned the tv on and it had no signal, on turning it around it found the ariel had been ripped out. Tried to call reception, it rang so long it cut off. Tried two more times before someone finally answered.

Later in the evening we wanted to change our dinner reservation so tried reception again. Three times we let if ring off the hook. When we went down to reception I asked why our calls are not answered. She apologised. Just as well it wasnt an emergency.

Dinner it self was so expensive. £25 for a sirloin steak and a few chips! £26 for a bottle of pino blush! How do they get away with it?

The buffet was disgusting, chicken curry or roast dinner. The desert was cake thrown in a fridge. My god it was disgusting!

Breakfast the following day was very greasy but lots of choice.

We did complain and spoke to the duty manager who was very nice and knocked a few quid off the final bill.

Its not four star, some rooms are better than others and its pretty expensive!

Think a travlodge would be just as good.

At reception the staff were friendly and welcoming. We'd arrived early and had time for a drink while our 'superior double' room was prepared. What a disappointment, our room was small and extremely claustrophobic as the window was high, too high to see out so we about turned and presented ourselves back at reception. The staff promised to find us a suitable room which was available on our return from a brief visit to Windsor. What a contrast our room in the White House was, it had three windows overlooking the war memorial and grounds to the rear. Although we've had larger cabins on cruise ships this room was acceptable and the en suite was of good proportions. Photos of superior double rooms on the website looked excellent so don't accept something inferior.
My wife used the toilet for disabled guests near to reception and was shocked to find that the loo did not flush and the hand towel dispenser was empty with no other means to dry her hands!
Our dinner was extremely poor. The soup, main meals and vegetables from the buffet were cold! In fact we wished we'd selected the a la carte option until we realised that a couple at a nearby table were waiting an hour between courses. Naturally we pointed out that the buffet food was cold and were offered a free drink. One word of praise for the dining room because families were grouped together leaving couples to dine peacefully - we wish other hotels would adopt this idea,
We have to say that breakfast was very good with hot food. It was a shame that they had to send a runner to find some marmalade which surprisingly wasn't immediately available!
On the plus side we found the staff at reception (Timothy) and our waiter at dinner (Peiter) to be courteous and helpful, it's a crying shame that the hotel didn't match the quality of its staff!

Room Tip: If you've booked a 'superior double' don't accept a small inferior room with windows...
