I wanted to return to the New Forest area for a few days to celebrate my 55th birthday.
On comparing the reviews on Tripadvisor for here and other local establishments, Harvest House stood out by a mile.
Too good to be true thought I, having a PhD in cynicism. So I booked 3 nights for me and the wife.
Result? Everything written is true, from the moment you arrive you know you are going to be looked after. If all B and Bs were like this I would never book another hotel.
Congratulations to Amanda and John for the standards they have achieved and maintain perfectly and thanks for the guidance on the best eating places in town.
Captain Peacock and his beloved will return

As I write this review of our recent visit to Harvest House, I see that around 130 people have given it 5 Stars with the rest giving it 4 Stars. Can't imagine why they knocked of 1 Star. Maybe it was the weather!

So, what can I add to help? Not much other than to say if Harvest House was somehow listed in a greater area, you would never get in! Amanda and Jon are both very 'chatty' and really want visitors to make the most of their time in the area and will advise on a couple of their favourite eateries and also on what's good to see which we found extremely helpful. Also, with double-glazed windows, a house set back 50 yards from a quiet road, we didn't hear a thing.

This is 3 story home but don't worry if you have heavy bags as Amanda will help! Also, we loved the guest sitting room and wood burner stove especially with the complimentary chilled wine on our first evening. Car enthusiasts will also have a lot to talk to with Jon who has restored some classic cars in his time. Also impressive is Amanda and Jon's contribution to improving the environment with a significant investment in solar power and recycling.

Room Tip: Speak with Amanda about the options

After wondering where to go for a few days break a friend recommended Harvest House as she had recently moved to the area. How lucky were we to be able to stay in The Attic, so light and clean and comfortable. Every day when we returned from our sightseeing we enjoyed finding out what little treats had been left for us. The breakfasts were sublime with Jon and Amanda making us feel like one of the family. Nothing was too much trouble. The house was in such a lovely setting with wonderful gardens. If we are ever in the area again this will be our first port of call. Lovely little village where everyone was so friendly and helpful. Two very enjoyable evenings spent at The Raft, delicious food and very friendly staff, even the rain couldnt dampen everyone's spirits! Have already recommended this wonderful bed and breakfast to several of our friends should they ever want to take a trip down to this part of the country. Dorothy and Freddy, Cardiff.

Room Tip: Attic Room provides complete privacy.

My husband, myself and our mothers travelled from Australia for a 1 month tour around the UK in May/June. We had only organised to stay one night in the area as we were due in Cornwall to stay with a friends mother. We are now sure we definitely wish to come back to this area for longer and highly recommend Harvest House as a home away from home!
Amanda and Jon were extremely welcoming, showing us to our rooms and helping with luggage, explaining the facilities and the general area and then arranging and setting up the outdoor patio area for tea and coffee! Very nice touch after a full days sightseeing and drive down from Rye.
Both of the rooms we occupied on the first floor were generously sized and spacious with plenty of room for luggage and the ability to spread out, both with lovely ensuites, one shower a little smaller than the other but you only use it for 5 minutes after all! We had a lovely view of the huge back garden area and a small side view of the sea. The amenities were great and we enjoyed the excellent wifi connection! (which wasn't the best in other parts of the country!) I must mention that we found the bed a little on the hard side for our tastes but we do tend to prefer quite soft beds and only found two B&B's on our entire trip that really fit the bill here so I think we are quite fussy in this area! Didn't affect our overall enjoyment of this place at all!
The breakfast was outstanding - Served up in the conservatory overlooking the garden; Amanda cooked our selections perfectly, providing plentiful portions - the sausage was the best I may have ever eaten in my life! and the fruit platter was shared as my mother in law couldn't eat it all! Jon supplied tea and coffee and conversation on tap and it was just a lovely way to start the day.
Overall a magnificent, but too short pit stop! My aunties are planning on travelling to England next year and I have already mentioned your B&B to them so they may just contact you! Thanks again Amanda and Jon. xxx

P.S Anyone staying here should please visit "The Raft' restaurant - it was simply divine - the atmosphere fantastic, they arranged a table for us immediately upon entering, despite it being relatively packed and having no reservation and then served up food to die for - pretty exemplary service I should say!

We stayed at 'Harvest House' for 4 nights to rest after having quite a major operation. It was truly better than any prescribed medicine and we both arrived home rested. The house is beautiful and in a wonderful location - a real home from home without the temptation to work! Breakfast each morning was excellent with high quality food and service. The garden is peaceful and tranquil with excellent views. We stayed in the 'Attic room' which we thoroughly enjoyed - spacious, bright and extremely comfortable. We ate in 3 restaurants during our stay, all within walking distance from Harvest House! Verveine, Zaika and The Raft. We can highly recommend all of these restaurants for their special qualities, excellent food and wonderful atmosphere, especially 'The Raft' where the owner makes the evening a memorable one! Thank you to Amanda and Jon for being so welcoming and the lovely treats that were in our room each day. Can't wait to return and would highly recommend.

Harvest House is a lovely building surrounded by beautiful scenery. The rooms are immaculate and Amanda and Jon are exemplary hosts; friendly, genuine and welcoming. Personal touches such as fresh fruit and biscuits in your room make you feel like you're staying with old friends, and the breakfasts are delicious! We will definitely be staying again.
