Having wanted to try here for a while we stopped off having popped to the area to view the boats in the annual RTI race. Be ready to pay for parking - last time we were in the area (ok so it was a while ago) this car park was free - how about a refund for customers...its not a NFDC carpark!.
We were going to have a full breakfast but seeing the confusion and stroppy matron in charge who was struggling to understand the till we settled for bacon & sausage sarnies and tea. The more elderly members of staff were struggling but the young lads had it under control especially the one who kept the coffee machine churning out one coffee after another. Sarnies were ok, my bacon appeared to be slightly smoked which the menu didn't state (I don't like smoked bacon) and for two pots of tea you need more than a thimble full of milk. Help yourself to cutlery, condiments and napkins. They charge restaurant prices but behave like a badly run greasy spoon. We overheard many groups of customers complaining that they had to carry their own drinks and chairs(!) up to the roof terrace. The crowning glory was when the fire alarm went off. They continued serving like nothing had happened, customers came, and ordered and went...no evacuation and no apology. After about 10/15 minutes someone switched it off - never did find out if there actually was a fire.
I had always wanted to try this place for a more formal meal for a special occasion - I dont think I'll bother.

We found this restaurant whilst out & about, It's at the bottom of a dead end but don't let that put you off. Even though there was a wedding reception in the bar on the night we visited this did not stop the service being excellent. Food is great and we were lucky enough to have a table by the window to enjoy the stunning views of the Isle of Wight.

My wife, baby and I called in for lunch having ben attracted to the building design, location and the information on the website. First of all you need to pay to park which wasn't ideal. Then the route to the lift was blocked by boxes and having finally got in we couldn't get it to work. Someone did eventually help us when they spotted us trying to carry the buggy up the steep steps. The interior once we got there was modern but with a café rather than a restaurant ambience and having sat down no-one bothered to bring menus despite the place being quite empty. The menu was quite basic, but when we did eventually get to order the waiter was friendly and the food was fairly good. In fairness they are still recovering from the winter storms and unfortunately it shows. Maybe it will get better but we won't be going again to find out.

After the devastation suffered at the Marine on Valentine Night we have returned to a completely new look in their cafe bar area. The beach comber theme is great, the coffee is still superb & the staff are as always welcoming and friendly. Well done and a big welcome back

The setting is stunning for The Marine and the first impression on entering is positive, a nice art deco ocean liner-ish feel. The actual eating was less impressive. It might be the rush of trade, but no crab, no brown bread, slow service (we half wondered if our order had been forgotten) and then the very indifferent sandwiches that arrived made for a puzzling experience. I'd read the excellent reviews here on Tripadvisor and they might be valid on another day, but not this time - and consistency is the hallmark of excellence. Very disappointing. Had better in motorway services to be honest.
