Having wanted to try here for a while we stopped off having popped to the area to view the boats in the annual RTI race. Be ready to pay for parking - last time we were in the area (ok so it was a while ago) this car park was free - how about a refund for customers...its not a NFDC carpark!.
We were going to have a full breakfast but seeing the confusion and stroppy matron in charge who was struggling to understand the till we settled for bacon & sausage sarnies and tea. The more elderly members of staff were struggling but the young lads had it under control especially the one who kept the coffee machine churning out one coffee after another. Sarnies were ok, my bacon appeared to be slightly smoked which the menu didn't state (I don't like smoked bacon) and for two pots of tea you need more than a thimble full of milk. Help yourself to cutlery, condiments and napkins. They charge restaurant prices but behave like a badly run greasy spoon. We overheard many groups of customers complaining that they had to carry their own drinks and chairs(!) up to the roof terrace. The crowning glory was when the fire alarm went off. They continued serving like nothing had happened, customers came, and ordered and went...no evacuation and no apology. After about 10/15 minutes someone switched it off - never did find out if there actually was a fire.
I had always wanted to try this place for a more formal meal for a special occasion - I dont think I'll bother.
