“Lovely break at Vinegar Hill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

We stayed in the Garden Room. It was nice having the lounge area, we were served breakfast in the lounge. Breakfast was very nice - with eggs from their hens! Everywhere there are examples of their pottery which makes it very interesting and personal.
It was around a 10 minute walk alongside the river into the centre of the village and there are plenty of places to eat. The beach is right next to the village and there are great views of the Isle of Wight. We were really pleased that we chose to stay here and would highly recommend it.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay in this delightful place. We stayed in the converted hayloft which was cosy, peaceful, and self contained.
The breakfasts were delicious and the home made bread a lovely touch.
Because of the location of the hayloft we felt we were in a tree house. Would love to go back there again.

I booked this on a whim as an extra birthday present for my girlfriend and booked it on the back of reviews like this. We weren't disappointed with what we found, feeling welcomed from beginning to end. I enjoyed the fact the Hayloft was self-contained and the fact breakfast is brought to you, with a cool box left in your room, made it feel more special.

One suggestion would be for the cool box to be brought up in the morning with the breakfast, because there's potential for it to warm up too much in a warm room on a sunny evening.

However, that's a minor niggle and everything else was great. Comfy bed, good location with lots to do. Milford-on-Sea is surprising in that it's a great town for foodies, with some of the best fish we've eaten in a long time. Recommend this for a little getaway.

All the family attended (my wife and I and two daughters 22 & 18 later this year) the three day pottery course. Food and accommodation were excellent. Pottery Course was well thought out with good instructions. Not sure what we are going to do with the 20 small raku pots that everybody in total produced :-), but deemed great fun by all. Looking forward to collecting the stoneware pots in a month or so's time.

Dave and Lucy are very welcoming and excellent hosts. We spent 3 nights in the Garden Suite, which was very comfortable and tastefully furnished. Breakfasts were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for Dave or Lucy. We enjoyed our tour of the Pottery and were delighted to be able to purchase some of Dave's wares. We were hardly aware of Dave & Lucy's 3 young children, who were so well behaved at all times. We certainly hope to return when we are next in the area.

Although I didn't stay as I live within driving distance, I LOVED the Vinegar Hill 3 day Pottery Course. Dave was an excellent teacher - kind and humorous - and I finished the course with a great sense of achievement and enthusiasm plus several stunning Raku pots and more stoneware to follow, once glazed and fired. All of which I made myself.

The elevenses and lunches included in the price were outstanding and we were able to enjoy them outside in tshirts on the suntrap terrace, even though it was only March.

My fellow students were great fun and they did stay at the B&B. I saw their rooms - lovely - and they all reported that the B&B experience was wonderful.

I thoroughly recommend this memorable and happy experience.

Room Tip: The hayloft seemed particularly charming.
