“GREAT SERVICE”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Stayed here with the family on our first trip away in our (New to us but ) really very old (28 years) first motorhome......there were 3 kids, two adults, 3 dogs, 3 bikes...all setting out on an adventure...and we were lucky enough to have chosen Lytton Lawn where Wendy and her team run a really friendly, very helpful and terrifically clean set up!
We had a great pitch as we had been upgraded and it was easy for us to get to the facilities.
Wendy gave advice and helped when we found that our leisure battery didn't work and gave us all the information we needed to get to the town and have a new one fitted.
The bathroom facilities were terrifically clean, and the upkeep of the whole place was great, it appears that people go back there year after year and we can see why. Milly our motorhome faired very well, we didn't feel at all out of place amongst the shiny beautiful new ones....if a bit jealous! still we are testing the waters with all this and have to say the experience was delightful...from ordering our croissant and newspapers for morning collection from the shop, to buying any extra accessories needed like marshmallows and skewers for the kids to toast marshmallows on the bbq! would recommend to anyone thanks all at Lytton Lawn!

Great time camping at Lytton lawn campsite. Really clean site, full use of indoor and outdoor pool etc at sister site Shorefields. Toilet block was immaculate, spacious pitches with electric, small children's play area with a climbing frame (although this was maybe looking a little bit tired) and a children's playing field for kicking a ball around without the risk of hitting into tents or cars! Also seemed to be very dog friendly and had a field just for exercising dogs. All in all a great week and would highly recommend it for a family camping trip.

We stayed here with our Two daughters 8 and 5yrs, And I must say they loved it! We took their bikes along and this proved a great idea, the site is very well set out indeed! Large plots and a very very spacious site.

Some people have said that the road noise has effected their holiday to the point they have to state put on here as a negative.....
But while we were here the fencing contractors were working extremely hard to erect a full height noise cancelling fence, the entire length of the sites boundary with the "noisy" road....

What a massive improvement....and it has made it much much quieter...!

The showers were great and the entire amenities areas were extremely clean and even had face cloths in next to each sink, nice touch!

Nothing was too much trouble for the good staff, and the shop was well stocked.

The games room could of had more choice and the wifi could have had a wider reach, we found we had to sit right outside the games room (where it's broadcast from) to get a decent speed/connectivity.

The children had so much space to wear themselves out, and all the children got along very well, and shared the small but functional play area, (that is closed and locked at dusk, great idea because it stops groups from loitering!)

All in all a very pleasant stay. Nice location and so much to do locally!

If I was to be negative, it would only be the grass cutting, as the site was quite empty, the staff put the lull to good use and cut the grass, on a ride on mower, but this seemed to be somewhat of a novelty to the driver, and he loved it too much, he took over 3 hours to cut the grass, and seemed to be cutting the same areas over and over again... But it became quite funny to watch after a while....;-)

just returned from 4 days at Lytton Lawn, a very friendly welcome when we arrived, we were given pitch 208 on booking but after checking it out we asked if we could have 219, no problem changed straight away, a great pitch for dry weather but was warned if it rains look out.
The site is very quiet and the pitches are huge, out tent is a vango airbeam eclipse 600 with extra sun canopy and there was plenty of space.
The use of the swimming pool at shorefield was brilliant, one of the best pools going, clean and very warm. you can park up within the site and walk to the beach as well
Would definitely recommend this camp site and will be coming back again

Room Tip: all pitches seem quite good, try and have a look then ask if you can change if need be

We have recently returned from this site. The company who own the site are very good.
We had a lovely friendly greeting when we arrived. Our touring pitch was lovely. The site was very clean and tidy.
As we were on holiday it would have been nice to have stayed in bed for a "lye in" But alas the warden who was very dedicated to his grass cutting most days was on his very loud sit n mower at 9.30am. Which yes was better than a alarm clock!!!
The toilet /shower block was very clean and acceptable.
The shop was so over priced that it was worth traveling to the Tesco's a few miles down the road.
The rules...every second step there was a sign: "no ball games", "no running", "no doing this", "no doing that", "quiet by then", "out by now". I understand rules are needed but this is a family site. And a holiday site!!

The site is really designed for older people who like to get up early!!!!!!!!.
We will still book with the company but wont be retuning to this site.

A very nice little site without all the commercial trappings that seem to have taken over a large number of campsites recently. All most people really want is a nice clean toilet block with a hot shower and somewhere to pitch a tent that's not covered in stones. Lytton Lawn is perfect for this. The staff seem very friendly and the whole place has a nice quiet family feel to it.

We only got back yesterday and my wife is already asking when we can go back.

My only recommendation to the park would be perhaps consider changing the check-in and check-out times. We came down for the weekend but a 10am check-out time on the Sunday meant we weren't there for very long (didn't get down until around 6pm on Friday due to work) and had to start packing up pretty much straight away Sunday morning. Perhaps instead of 12pm check-in and 10am check-out consider moving it to a 2pm check-in and 12pm check-out to give people time to get packed up without having to rush.

All in all though a wonderful little find and somewhere we'll definitely be going back to.

Perhaps the rating of two stars is a little harsh on this campsite as my review is not so much based on the site itself but more the guests that we encountered on our 2 night stay recently.
We were a group of 13 across two tents and arrived quite late on Friday afternoon so the tents were only finished by around 9.30pm.

Whilst we were putting up the tents we had one couple who came up and asked “Can you please control your children” – who were doing nothing wrong other than making a bit of noise and running up to the play field and back.

Later that night at 10.30 the children were playing Uno in the tent and another 2 tents nearby shouted out from their tent asking us to stop making noise – despite the park itself having a “quiet time” from 11pm (by which time the kids were in bed and asleep, may I add).

The next day we had someone come up on their lawnmower who spoke to us very rudely and who caused upset by some guests that had come to visit from their sister caravan site, guests who recently spend 10’s of thousands of pounds on a brand new caravan and who will be complaining directly to their contact.

I’m sure that if you are an older couple or a small family who like an early night then this is a great campsite – but if you have slightly boisterous younger children then I would suggest somewhere else as the experience really ruined what should have been a nice few days.

We are sorry to hear you won’t be returning to Lytton Lawn.

Unfortunately, we did receive complaints on three occasions from other families staying on park about the children playing and running around other people’s pitches. As a family park we do have to consider other families staying with us and we do try to provide facilities for children such as a games room and play park.

Thank you for your feedback.
