Two couples for a Sunday lunch.
Service was erratic due them being busy but this business created a good ambiance.
A wide choice of menu was available. We each opted for the traditional Sunday roast; beef, pork or turkey. The food was well presented, plentiful, hot and tasty with a good selection of vegetables.
The Doom Bar ale is highly recommended by one of our party who considers himself an authority on the subject.
We will return but will look for the padded chairs.

This is the sister pub of the Hare & Hounds but it doesn't really compare. It's always cold (even if the fire's on you can't feel it) and the staff are totally disinterested. As we're local we've visited quite a lot but there's never any eye contact or signs of recognition unlike all the other village pubs. The food is ok and they do several light bites; I especially enjoy the small chilli and small pasta but main meals aren't so great. The decor is good though looking a bit tatty now and they are dog friendly. It;'s also very nice to sit outside on a hot summer's day down by the stream and feed the resident ducks. By contrast I don't understand why the loos haven't been upgraded - they are like the local Council loos (and that's doing a disservice to the Council). So on the whole it's an OK pub - open all day - drinks and food are good value; just don't expect any atmosphere

Sunday lunch - we had booked and left a phone number, so feel they could have called to warn us the wait for food after ordering would be an hour. The pub itself is nicely decorated - a shame the staff load dirty plates on one table and leave them there for ages. Talking about the staff, they strenuously avoid eye contact at all times, although once you do throw yourself at them to ask for something (like a menu) they are friendly. My roast beef was distinctly average - yorkshire pud as dry as toast and two (admittedly very large) slices of thick cut and overcooked beef that took on the appearance and taste of oak. A large selection of well cooked veg, though, so cannot complain about portion size. Overall, not too bad, but this place really needs to get its act together and not be so very unbelievably slow at getting the food on the table.

Have had Sunday lunch here on a number of occasions. The March sunshine seemed to bring out the world & his wife! The result was that we had a short wait for our booked table & then a considerable wait for the food - folk coming in on spec. were told the wait for food was one hour. Generally the quality of their Sunday lunches is very good - just a little concerned that the quality may be compromised by the quantity of customers - something perhaps the management need to think through.

My boyfriend, myself and a friend were staying in a holiday park nearby and decided to eat out. So glad we found this charming little pub! Very friendly and attentive staff, relaxed atmosphere and a great menu to choose from! All the food was cooked perfectly! We all had starter, main and desserts. Unfortunately my homemade cheesecake had a piece of plastic/clingfilm in it, after making the waitress aware of it, they promtly removed the cheesecake from our bill! This wasn't necessary as i enjoyed the cheesecake anyway, i just wanted to let them know but a lovely gesture on there part! Very reasonable bill at the end of our visit too! We returned the next day (Sunday) and were pleasantly surprised to find a menu offering more than the usual roast/carvery. We ate outside as it was the first good weather weekend of the year! Lovely beer garden with a stream at the bottom and plenty of tables. Dogs were welcomed. All made for a memorable two visits, we will recommend and visit again when in the area!
