“Great place for food”
Reviewed 11 April 2013

4 adults and 2 children called into the Beach House for dinner and had what I can only describe as a real pleasurable dinner
Sat in the window overlooking the Needles and the Isle of White we received an excellent service from the lady who looked after us
We had a real mixture of food from curries to fresh fish all served to a very high standard all at what I can only say very realistic prices
We have taken the leaflet on the hotel and will go and stay there later in the year
If its as good as the food and the service we received it will be another major find for us all to enjoy

“Restaurant Review”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

The Westover as it used to be known was very nice and had superb food but at a price. Unfortunately it had started to fall into dis-repair When Hall and Woodhouse took over the food became more affordable but was always going to be priced more competitively to attract more people. Some of the original staff have stopped and bring a nice character back. I have no problems with service or the food you get what you pay for. The views across to the needles are lovely, and money is being spent on repairs to what is a great building. Worth a visit, we like it.

“Beautiful location”
Reviewed 6 March 2013

This used to be an upmarket hotel/restaurant but has now been taken over by brewery chain "Hall & Woodhouse". It is in a beautiful on the cliff top at Milford and on a sunny day the terrace and garden are stunning. The food is now more traditional "pub grub" but is very good and I particularly like their burgers and mini pies. I have to say though that the Boxing Day luncheon was very poor. At the moment there is just a small bar which does 2 draught lagers - Pironi & Amstell and Badger beer, there is no draught cider only bottled Magners and the glasses are all kept standing upright on the counter so small insects can get inside them. Some of the staff like Guy, Lucas and the new Manager & Manageress are very good & friendly but a couple of the younger bar staff have a bit of an attitude problem. The lounge area is very cosy & welcoming and dogs are allowed into this room and the bar (though Lancelot the ginger cat looks disdainfully at them)! The two restaurant areas have stunning views efficient service. Will be interesting to see the result after the closure in october for a total refurb.

“Dont even think about coming here if you have kids”
Reviewed 7 December 2012

Used to be the old Westover Hall which had seen better days. So there were high hopes locally when it was taken over by a brewery. We had hoped it would become more user friendly and a place where locals and tourists could enjoy a nice lunch, or dinner without feeling they were in a morgue.
Unfortunately initial good changes have now been ruined by the fact this place has been taken over by the Milford Mafia - posh OAPs who want things to hark back to the days of Downtown Abbey.
So therefore anyone under the age of fifty feels out of place and anyone with kids is made to feel extremely unwelcome. Even though there is a big garden which runs down to the beach, you feel dreadful for letting kids run about and spend your whole time 'sshing' them.I can't imagine what it would be like to actually stay here with children.
Staff vary from frosty to completely amatuer -- long waits in bar because they don't know how to operate pumps or cash tills. Food varies too - its either good, or absolutely awful. Recent Sunday lunch for over ten saw all the roast dinners taken off the bill because they were so poor quality.
Shame - this place is so beautiful and is crying out for a revamp..but this isn't it.
