“Can't recommend it enough!”
Reviewed 30 July 2011

A fantastic place! From first booking (firstly via email and then via telephone), everything was pretty much perfect. The owner was very helpful as he suggested giving him a bell when I hit a certain point on the motorway network, as at the time we were travelling there would be certain 'pinch points' that would add hours to our journey. In fact after phoning him, he phoned back to say that there was an accident on the M27 and we should maybe try another way - now THAT is customer care!!

The room itself was spotless. We had a ground floor room that had patio doors (lockable) to the covered veranda area. The bathroom was HUGE! A bath you could easily get two in, and a shower you could get 3 or 4 in. The gardens are very nice as well, if you like that kind of thing - and lovely to have a coffee and a cig in at the crack of dawn which is what I do.

The town of Milford On Sea itself is quiet, but not too quiet. Just down the road is the Red Lion pub which also does food, but pretty limited in my opinion. A little further down the road is the Smugglers Inn. We chose to eat there and glad we did - fantastic food.

Mentioned earlier by others was the parking. If staying for one night, it doesn't really cause an issue. You get two hours free anyway and the charging period runs from 9am till 6pm. Hence if you get there for 4 and are gone by 11 - it costs you nothing! I found a place right outside the front door but there is a small car park directly across the road.

All in all - a brilliant place and somewhere I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and visit again.

We've just booked our third stay and have relatives close by, but would stay here every time as it is so relaxing. Rob has achieved just the right balance with his B&B. He is a friendly, welcoming and fastidious host - professional and attentive without being intrusive. The breakfast also deserves comment; great choice all fresh and individually cooked for each guest and most of it sourced locally, plus the usual cereals, fresh fruit, juice, newspaper etc. The bedrooms are of a high standard - very clean and well presented with great comfort and style. On the web site, Rob describes how some of his guests love the sherry in the bedroom, but don't let this imply this B&B is only aimed at the older generation - as we are both in our 40s/50s. If you have limited mobility - opt for the garden room on the ground floor - this is spacious and has patio doors leading to the garden area and also provides access to the bright and airy breakfast room. Highly recommended to anyone who is seeking peaceful, tranquil and friendly surroundings - but close enough to the local shops, pubs and restaurants - you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Garden room is at rear, but all rooms are quiet

We stayed at The Bay Trees one night just before Christmas and it was very nice, one of the loveliest guest houses we've stayed in. The room was very charming, tastefully decorated with a romantic four-poster bed, and welcoming with chocolates and a small decanter of sherry. The bathroom was small, but modern and clean.
The owner was very friendly and cooked us a delicious gourmet English breakfast, using locally sourced free-range ingredients.
All in all, an excellent, well-appointed guest house with affable owners and good food that really can't fault at all.

Reading the previous reviews (after I'd booked) was cheerfully encouraging but gave The Bay Trees something to live up to.
It delivered with aplomb. Friendly with an air of relaxed calm and lovely comfortable, quiet rooms. The breakfast will set you up for a good days walking along the beautiful coast (especially in the Autumn sunshine). With 3 decent pubs and a few restaurants within strolling distance there was little need to venture far in the evenings.
I can heartily recomend staying here and have done so to friends, family and work colleagues already, but there is little I can add in praise to what has already been written.
As the proverb says "The proof of the pudding is in the eating",or more aptly for the Bay Trees, " the proof is in the English breakfasts."
Enjoy.

The other reviews have said it all. This is a gem of a Band B. We have now made around 8 or 9 visits in the last 4 years which probably speaks volumes!

The rooms are elegant and comfortable with numerous thoughtful touches. Breakfasts are beyond the reach of many 5 star hotels!

However, above all Rob and Amanda are the perfect hosts -nothing is ever too much trouble and an air of calm quiet professionalism permeates Bay Trees.

The Bay Trees offers everything you want from a B&B and more. A friendly reception, a large comfy room and one of the best breakfasts I've had. They were even flexible enough to squeeze us in for a single night. We're looking forward to our next opportunity to stay in this wonderful hotel.
