spent 2 nights mid week in this hotel, it was a present from a friend from buy a gift.
to be honest, we were not expecting much from this hotel, the reviews were very mixed.
we were given room 111 and although it was an ok room ,as we were staying 2 nights we thought we might like a better view and something a bit brighter. . . and that's what we got, room 227 and at no extra cost.
the room was an ok size, clean and comfortable, shower was OK, not very powerful but OK. beds comfortable. the breakfast was buffet style and because of this was a bit poor but the staff more than made up for that. the lady showing you to your table and taking drinks orders was a credit to this hotel. in fact all the staff were professional, well mannered and helpful.
we had our own transport so we found the location of the hotel very good, spending our time in Liverpool, the Wirral and Cheshire oaks.
all in all a pleasant stay and one that i would recommend

Clean comfortable hotel. Food excellent. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Fantastic value for money.
We were on the all inclusive rate and couldn't fault anything.
Free tea and coffee any time we wanted, drinks included in the evening, with no limit.
Excellent value for money, good location for Chester, Liverpool etc.

Stayed two nights on an all inclusive basis, could not fault the Hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the spa facilities were fine, perhaps the changing rooms could be upgraded. The breakfasts were excellent and the evening meals were adequate for the price.

Liverpool is within easy reach, Hooton rail Station is approx 1 mile away and a day return ticket via the Mersey Ferry is £4.80 well worth the effort! We would stay there again.

We were bought a buy-a-gift voucher for a two night hotel stay with breakfast and chose this hotel. The staff were really lovely and the rooms were a really decent size. We had no problem with the heating someone mentioned previously and found the heater worked perfectly. The breakfast was really tasty and set us up for the whole day. We made the most of using the swimming pool and although it wasn't huge was warm and clean. Location wise, there isn't a great deal immediately around the hotel but it is well placed for trips out to chester and Liverpool. I'm not sure we would pay the advertised rack rate to stay here but for what we paid we had a brilliant stay.

The hotel is ideally located for visiting Liverpool, Chester and North Wales. The double room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast and evening meal were well prepared and fairly priced. The evening meal was good but did not produce what was on the tin/menu. The smooth Patti was rough and we had to return it for a second choice. There were no flat mushrooms or tomato to accompany the beefburger and the hand cut chips were french fries. We also asked for Ceaser Salad without Anchovies but they still arrived with the salad and again this had to be returned. Having said this the duty manager was excellent and listened to our complaint and sorted it out very quickly which was to her credit.

I am delighted that overall you were pleased with the hotel and I have discussed your comments with regards to dinner with the team. Whilst your experience is not reflective of the high standards in which we pride ourselves at the hotel, we take all our guest comments very seriously and I have addressed these with our kitchen and service brigade.

Thank you again for your valued comments

My wife & I and a couple of friends stayed here for a very cheap weekend in November 2012. The incredibly cheap rate included breakfast and honestly for the money there was nothing to complain about. The staff especially were great and they gave us good advice on local pubs, restaurants & travel (to Liverpool by train).

Would definitely stay here again on a bargain rate but wouldn't choose over other local hotels such as the Macdonald Craxton Wood if the price wasn't significantly cheaper. Downsides to the Mercure are the lack of air con in the bedrooms and the lack of natural light in the restaurant.

Lovely clean hotel nice service nice room nice food Spent a lovely weekend there last week Room and bathroom very clean and fresh. Excellent food and service in restaurant All members of staff very helpful and friendly. If I had to pick one think to change, it would be the constant showing of sky sports 2 in the bar lounge, Well worth a visit and at £100 each all inclusive for two nights excellent value for money
