Review of Cromlix
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Dec 2017
At this time of year we usually have a 2 night splurge between Gleneagles and Cameron House. After last year at a forgetable Cameron House we decided to give Cromlix a visit, boy are we glad we did.
Prior to our visit, we received a call from the Management asking if it would be possible to move our arrival day by one day due to a large party booking that would have occurred on our 2nd night, we agreed to move and were rewarded with an upgrade to a suite(largest I have ever been in), Free bottle of Champagne on arrival and the first night dinner on the house.
This hotel is superb in every way, the initial greeting from Lee was both warm and very friendly, Lee showed us round the hotel and then around our suite. excellent in every aspect.
Dinner is open plan and I was delighted that you can watch the team cooking the evening meal(and Breakfast), fascinating to say the least.Food quality was excellent.
Our waitress was a delightful young lady called Quin and she has a great rapport with the guests, super efficient too.
I can honestly say that every member of staff that we came across were very friendly.
The rooms are spotlessly clean and very, very comfortable, with great Egyptian Cotton Sheets and sumptuous Bathrobes.
Anybody does not know the area should be advised that it is well off the main B Class Road, probably a good 10 minute walk, although Hotel does have a courtesy car and about 2-3 miles outside the town of Dunblane.
This in our opinion was a positive as it made for a great relaxing couple of days.
From now on their will only be one winner in our yearly pre-Christmas splurge and this will definitely be at Cromlix House

Dear GrandpoohbahH, thank you ever so much for taking the time out to write such an in-depth review of your wonderful Winter break at Cromlix and Chez Roux. I am thrilled to read that we exceeded your expectations and that you both had such a lovely, memorable stay. Lee and Quin are both fantastic members of the team and I will be sure to pass on your compliments to them, like wise to the rest of the team. Each individual works extremely had to ensure our guests have the most fantastic time, so I am glad to see their efforts have been recognised. It is wonderful that you are all ready planning to return for next year’s pre-Christmas splurge! The full team are already looking forward to welcoming you back.
Kind Wishes,
Graeme Green

Arrived at the hotel to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. We were greeted by an extremely pleasant and professional concierge who gave us a tour of the hotel. Our cases were delivered to our room which had been upgraded, it was wow. We then enjoyed tea and delicious scones in the lounge and were very well looked after by all the waiting staff as we sat by the open log fire. Dinner in the evening was again delicious and beautifully presented, the service was of a very high standard. When we returned to our room later there had been a turn down service and everything put in place. Breakfast was equally excellent. There are not enough words to describe how fantastic this place is or how well we were treated. Unfortunately the weather was torrential rain so we were unable to enjoy the grounds however hoping one day we will be able to return. Can’t recommend this hotel enough.

We were treated to lunch at the Cromlix by our son and daughter in law. The hotel itself is a beautiful building set in wonderfully manicured grounds. We enjoyed a drink and amuses-Bouches in the bar before being taken through to the conservatory for lunch. The kitchen area is open plan to the dining area so one can watch all the preparations. We were impressed to see Albert Roux eating in his own restaurant; if it’s good enough for him - it’s certainly good enough for us! The food was exquisite and the service was excellent. We would heartily recommend everything. We definitely will return!

A special occasion warrants a special hotel and Cromlix didn’t disappoint. Check in was seamless but personal. Our room was warm and comfortable with a lovely view with a huge luxurious bathroom. Dinner Chez Roux also lived up to expectations in a modern extension with plenty of atmosphere. Afterwards there was only the dilemma of which lounge and roaring log fire to choose. At the end of our stay we felt thoroughly spoiled- such a peaceful setting and such a warm welcome. Can’t wait to go back!

We stayed for one night and found it one of the nicest and most relaxing hotels we have stayed at in Scotland. From the moment we arrived, we were waited on hand and foot by wonderful, friendly staff. They all seemed to really enjoy their roles.

We had a large double room (Connery), which was incredibly spacious and almost felt like a mini suite. It was exceptionally clean and well presented. Lots of lovely little details, like a good range of reading materials, complimentary show cleaning service, brolly should you want a walk in inclement weather...it was spotlessly clean and the bathroom had an excellent shower and big bath. Evening turn down service was a nice touch. Other nice touches were that the hotel could organise and pack picnics for you, there were rods available if you fancied fishing on the trout pond...

We had booked into Chez Roux and did really enjoy the food, and the waiting staff were extremely attentive. The menu was good and the canapes served in the bar before hand were really delicious. The only problem with the restaurant was that it lacked ambience. It is a very modern and stark addition to the old building, and with the kitchen incorporated into the dining room, it did feel a bit like a work canteen.

The over areas of the hotel are fabulous, with so many places to choose from to sit down and relax. One thing which would be nice would be some books or magazines in the public areas. There is also a gorgeous whisky tasting room...felt about minus 2 in there, so possibly best to enjoy in summer.

We chose to have breakfast in our room, which was delicious. Much nicer to relax with the morning paper, news and a lovely view over the grounds. Even without a suite there was ample space to sit and eat.

All in all we loved it and would love to go back for a tranquil break.

Dear Townheadhaze, thank you for taking the time for writing such an in-depth review or your recent relaxing stay with us with Cromlix and Chez Roux and for sharing it with the Trip Advisor community. I am thrilled to read that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us! Our team work extremely hard to ensure our guests feel at home from the moment they walk in the door, so I am thrilled that they done themselves proud- I will be sure to pass on your kind comments to them. The Connery room is beautiful with the most breath-taking views, I’m glad you were able to take advantage of the room and have breakfast looking over the gardens. I am disappointed to read that our restaurant was not to your taste, it certainly is a contrast to the rest of the house. However, I am pleased that is did not affect your stay and you still made fantastic memories. We are all looking forward to welcoming you back to the house again in the future.
Warm Regards,
Graeme Green
