We booked into this b& b after arriving from Ireland at 0.45am on a Sunday morning. The owner had rung me to explain how to get to our rooms via the outside gateway etc. Having arrived we found our rooms at the back of the guest house. I have to say the rooms were very basic, yes they had TV which didn't matter anyway at that time of night and there was a fridge. The rooms were wooden floors with no rug at all between the beds. Cold to feet. The bedding was dreadful -the pillows I would have thrown out years ago as they were so thin and worn. The sheets and duvets were also thin and worn. The room was painted orange and our friends was red!! Not a problem but really!! This looks like a lovely place to stay and indeed the main rooms in the house look much nicer-but the same price! If you need to stay here then insist on an inside room. Avoid the annexe! The breakfast was great!

Room Tip: Insist on a room inside the main house as these looked much better. DO NOT let them talk you into on...

I used this guesthouse over a period of two years whilst on contract work at one of the oil refineries in Pembrokeshire. Other colleagues on the same contract also used this hostel and I know of more people who have used if for over five years!

By the fact that I and others in the same situation stayed there for such a lengthy period, is testimony to its value for money and comfort. Working visitors do not tolerate shoddy conditions.

This B&B is very popular with the many holiday makers that visit this part of Wales.

I always found the proprietor and his wife friendly and the rooms were always clean.

The view over the Milford Haven estuary is superb thanks to the panoramic position of the hotel.

The lounge is large, comfortable and a full Sky package to view on the large screen TV.

Free Wi-Fi is available to guests.

Owner seems pleasant enough, but attention to detail is somewhat lacking. For two of us there were 3 sachets of coffee - no tea at all - and the two coffee sachets we used weren't replaced for the next day. Ditto the cartons of milk, so we had no milk for the second morning (despite a full sized fridge in our room that was completely and utterly empty). Rather more inconveniently, friends staying at the same time as us had no towels in their room on day two.

The décor is, well, decidedly idiosyncratic. Hotel Bric-a-Brac was how a friend described it. Everwhere is bizarrely cluttered, with no really discernable theme, except, perhaps, for that of "pigs" in the breakfast room. The apparently suicidal clown hanging from the landing ceiling was probably the most disturbing item - that and the "Don't Look Know" child-doll in the conservatory.

Room Tip: Room 1 is very big, with three beds (1 dbl, 2 singles).

we wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews but was pleasantly suprised how welcoming and helpfull the owners was. The house was fabulous, on-suit rooms, microwave, kettle/ tea/coffee, tv, everything you want when taking a family as well as having a separate lounge for guests with massive tv and a pc for people to use which kept the kids amused as it was a rainy weekend.
As for the negative reviews it must of been a personal thing as we know they have been open for many years and have tried to book in several times since but they have always been full. We will be booking in well in advance next year to make sure we stay their again

It was our friends wedding on the 14th August and we were late booking accomodation.
The wedding was in Pembroke Dock and our friends walked to the lakeland and booked us a room, We looked at the reviews and were horrified! We tried to get accomodation at the Travel Lodge but it was full.

All I can say is what a lovely Surprise!!!

The setting is beautiful, the owners very pleasant, the breakfast was lovely ( always hot! ), Ok the rooms are a bit dated and if you wanted to pick faults on the cleaniness you could, but nothing major. We had booked for three nights and ended up staying for four.

Would definately stay again!

Booked this last minute by phone due to a rained off camping trip in Pembroke.and initially when we drew up to the house I was plesantly surprised. .Immediately we were led down a corridor in the annexe I knew we had made a terrible mistake but August Bank Holiday and no room at the inns so we had no choice.

In summary:

Dirty rooms - and I dont mean the odd bit of dust- you could scratch your name in the grease/grime on bedside tables. Floors had not been washed or hoovered and were covered in dust, fluff, hair etc. Room and corridor smelt stale and musty.

Bathroom - Old and grubby. Dont know when it had last had a through cleaning. Chipped enamel and lousy shower.

Almost every item of bedding, sheets, pillowcases and duvet was mismatched and badly worn . Judging by the general standard of cleanliness I wasnt taking any chances and went down to the local Asda and bought three new sets of bedding. We put this on the beds over what was already there. I couldn't bear the thought of of stripping the bed for fear of what I might find underneath!

Lying in bed, just waiting for the night to be over, we had trouble sleeping due to the noise of the ancient fridge in the corner and the sound of the TV next door. Finally the TV was switched off only to be replaced 5 mins later with the snoring of next doors occupant who may as well have been sharing a room with us - the walls were so thin.

Although we had planned a 4 night stay, needlesss to say the next morning we made our excuses to the very rude owner and said we woud be leaving. We didnt go into details as to the real reasons - he didnt seem the type to take constructive critisism - and we just wanted to get out of there asap. He wasnt happy about the idea of our leaving early and as we left his parting shot was that he was off to check our room to see if everything was still there and to make sure we hadnt pinched the TV!

In short the most terrible place I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. If you find yourself in Pembroke and cant find a room for the night, dont stay here, sleep in the car!
