“Lovely hotel in a very convienient position for Cambridge”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

We stayed for one night and were very pleased we had chosen the hotel to celebrate our anniversary. It is situated close to Cambridge but is away from the main A14 and therefore is a quiet location. We had made our booking with bookings.com and had an excellent deal, we were luckily upgraded to room 41 in the main building which was lovely. It looked like it was newly decorated and the room was fresh and bright, clean and comfortable.
The bathroom had a large walk in shower and lovely fluffy towels. The room overlooked the rear patio and garden area, a really beautiful view.
We enjoyed a quiet and relaxing evening and a good night's sleep. Breakfast the next morning was of a good quality served in a pleasant dining room.
We did use the leisure facilities which are located in a separate building. We found the pool clean and it had good changing rooms with a hot tub Jacuzzi, a steam room and sauna. This is a great asset for the hotel.
We are planning another trip to Cambridge in the near future and have no hesitations in booking here again.

Room Tip: Room 41 was overlooking the patio and rear garden and very quiet and comfortable.

We stayed at ths hotel as guests for a wedding reception held at the hotel. All I can say is great, the staff, the food, the service and the facilities were excellent. There was soya milk for my wife and gluten free food as well, a large selection for breakfast although the menu is very much high bracket,

We enjoyed an excellent two night break. The room was comfortable and quiet, with smart, relaxing decor and pleasing attention to detail. I enjoyed the nice little touches which are sometimes sadly missing in some hotels, such as a good selection of teas, etc., and mini pack of toiletries in the bathroom. There was an effective, silent ceiling fan. The gym and pool were very enjoyable and the staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Breakfast was excellent but for best value, book it along with the room as its a more appealing price that way.

Room Tip: Book breakfast with the room for best value.

We stayed for a night. We had a swim and sauna in the nice facility on site, before having a 3 course set menu. All 4 of us enjoyed the food, which tasted lovely and was well presented. We had a twin room and a double. Both we ok,clean and of reasonable size. They were in a converted barn. They do seem to be re decorating several rooms. Although only 3 star we feel was a nicer place to stay than the 4 star Gronville sister hotel in Cambridge. The star rating seems to be artificial low as they cannot put a lift in the water mill as it is a listed building. Anyway I feel it is of the standard of a 4 star and could be pushing a 5!!

Room Tip: Stay in the barn away from main hotel area

Good location to access Cambridge and pleasant surroundings. Excellent room and bathroom. Perhaps it was the timing of our stay, but there were restricted areas over the two days due to private functions (even the gardens at one point!) which, whilst appreciating that's part of the hotel's business, wasn't great really. That aside though, recommended.

Hotel and grounds looked lovely, lady on check in could of been a little more friendly and helpful.
Hotel public areas where really nice and clean. Our bedroom was very dated but the housekeeping do a great job as it was really clean. However I was let down to find we had no room service when we had left for the day to my brothers wedding. Breakfast was delightful. Unfortunately never got chance to try the spa but it looked great.
