“Lovely hotel !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

We stayed here for three nights . A lovely place and great location. The whole place is spotlessly clean. The room and bathroom was very clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious but pricey. The food in the restaurant and bar was very good. Lovely spa, pool, steam room and sauna. A really good stay. We will definitely return and would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at Quy Mill whilst attending the Cambridge Folk Festival and we had a lovely stay. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The room was rather hot but a ceiling fan above the bed ensured a good night's sleep. The food was fabulous - really good poached eggs for breakfast and dcaff tea. Reception and restaurant staff were genuinely kind and accommodating. There was a minor hiccough with our bill -we had pre paid and they tried to charge us again but that was sorted swiftly and amicably. We will definitely be back.

My second visit to the Best Western Plus, Cambridge Quy Mill Hotel was disappointing.
Our room, number 101, was very noisy before breakfast - we couldn't understand what the noise was - we were told by another guest it was a Jacuzzi in the adjoining bedroom. The "shower" curtain in the wet room was 24 inches from the floor which meant water sprayed over a large area of the bathroom floor, in fact the carpet by the side of the bed was also wet. The buffet breakfast was very disappointing. Cold plates for hot food, no fruit on offer, had to request preserves for the toast. I expected a better service for £115 per night.

Room Tip: No lifts in main building.

It was my sons wedding yesterday and I must say what a lovely day we had. The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable with tea, coffee etc. Everything around the hotel was spotlessly clean and staff very smartly dressed in all parts of the hotel. Food in the Celtic bar was delicious but drinks a bit pricey. The wedding ceremony was held in the Mill room which was lovely and then this room was transformed into the sit down eating area for the wedding meal. The room looked absolutely beautiful and the whole meal was delicious served by smart polite staff. My only small moan was the shared wedding breakfast in the garden room - breakfast was buffet style which while OK did not have the choice as we had had the previous morning in the normal breakfast room. It was lacking fried eggs, beans, fruit, yoghurt and preserves until they were requested. I suppose you could have gone to the normal breakfast area and got anything else you wanted but didn't think to do this at the time. But overall and excellent weekend and would without question go again.

Room Tip: Any one with mobility issues request a ground floor room as no lifts in hotel. Rooms 41 - 45 althoug...

Great Location, lovely setting with mature trees and landscaped gardens. Very close to Cambridge and Newmarket, (taxi to Newmarket racecourse cost £22, taxi to Cambridge cost £11) Lovely spa, pool, steam room and sauna, this made for a relaxing stay after our late night to the race course and concert. We have stayed here before and found the staff to be very helpful and attentive. The rooms are very clean and to a very good standard with very comfortable beds and the linen is beautifully soft and crisp white. we stayed in a luxury room last time and a standard room this time and would recommend both, you pay your money and you take your choice. There was a wedding the weekend we stayed but it did not affect our stay, everything was very efficient and I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 207 in the separate barn with a vaulted ceiling, very comfortable standard room. W...

Just got back from a friend's wedding which was held here and we had a wonderful day. We booked a standard room so I was a little hesitant but oh how wonderfully pleased my husband and I were. The room itself was, to my mind, large with an absolutely fabulous bathroom and super shower. The bed was so comfy with crisp clean sheets and duvet and everywhere so clean. Hairdryer, iron, ironing board and small safe all included along with kettle and an array of teas, coffee and hot chocolate, biscuits and bottled waters. This was room 34 and if we are ever in that neck of the woods again we will definitely book again. Out of our window we had a lovely view of the river too and the grounds are beautiful. The staff were so friendly and helpful....well done. The following morning we had the delights of the wedding breakfast and at first I was a little disappointed when I saw the containers holding bacon, sausage, mushroooms, tomatoes and scrambled eggs but I needn't have worried .... it all tasted lovely and as a mushroom addict I was sure that they would taste absolutely vile after being in their confinement of the containers but I was wrong ..... they, as everything else were delicious. The only criticism that we had and we also speak for others in our party, are that the bar prices for drinks, in our view, are too pricey ! Example a double whiskey, single vodka and tonic = £18.65. To us that was expensive so those drinks were then limited but apart from this we really enjoyed our stay. Thankyou.

We stayed in an executive room for my partner's 60th Birthday.
We had booked a pedicure at the spa and this was a luxurious experience made so by Chantelle who was friendly and professional. The spa was clean and well presented. You do need to book in advance though as this facility is obviously very popular.
Our room was large and clean. The windows only opened a little way and though there was a large ceiling fan the heat was a problem. It was though one of the hottest days of the year but we would not return in the warmer months unless air con was installed. I believe we could have been moved to a room with air con but this would have been a twin room which we did not require.
The housekeepers had been kind enough to comply with my request to decorate the room with the decorations I had sent to them previously.
The bed was very comfortable and en suite more than adequate.
We had the set dinner which was tasty and well presented. We were well looked after by Emily Webb who could not do enough to make our experience enjoyable. This was without request. She was knowledgeable about the food and obviously very skilled in customer care.
The pigeon for starter was beautiful and the lamb was sooo tender. The homemade ice cream is a must and is the best I have ever had.
The gardens to the back of the hotel are well maintained but we did not use these due to there being a wedding that day so we sat elsewhere for the evening with drinks being brought to us by Emily.
The breakfast was full of choice and delicious though if this had not been included in our booking I don't think we would have paid the required £16.95 for it.
This hotel has many qualities but I think what made our experience fantastic was the staff who were attentive and polite.
We will be keeping an eye on this hotel and when air con is installed can make plans to return.

Dear Guest,
Thank-you for your excellent review. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and had a chance to sample our wonderful facilities. I have passed your comments onto Emily and the team at Quy Mill, as I know how passionate they all are in delivering exceptional service!! In terms of air-con, we are in completing a refurbishment of our rooms and are carryout investigation on this front. We do have many rooms with air-con currently. Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future.
