“Canine friendly Pub Experience”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

The pub is named after Thomas Telford the engineer responsible for the aqueduct, it is open all day, they allow you to take the dog into some areas of the pub and provide water in the garden. This is not a gourmet pub, but the steaks were generous, served with onion rings, chips and peas. They were not over cooked both were ordered medium rare one was spot on the other rare. The shepherds pie was coated with a thick layer of cheese. It was good plain food, not cheap, but it is a tourist place, right on the marina and a short hop to the aqueduct. The Irish coffee was nice. The staff are kind and helpful and there is free wifi! which when you are cruising on the Llangollen canal is all very welcome.

“Good as ever”
Reviewed 6 April 2014 via mobile

6 meals with drinks £40. Cannot grumble over that. Staff pleasant, young lady behind the bar deserves a 'multi tasker of the year award'. Ploughmans lunch delicious and the famous steak pie still gives you a piece of steak on every fork full. Beautiful location always relaxing

“This place need some serious Thinking”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

I don't even know where to start, was there with the intention to eat and after seeing the menu how attractive it looks and presentable (see photos ) I was just put off, also where do you pay £7 pounds for a ham salad and £9 for a chicken burger, if the place was cleaner and the menu was presentable I will pay anything but this is just over prize, so pack up and end up driving some where else.

the only thing this place is good is to have a beer or a quick drink, i am not fuzzy but the cost to print a new more presentable menu is real cheap, any way is not home made food so the least you can do is made it presentable.

sorry its honest, I will be back but not to eat.

“Lunch after bike ride.”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

Stopped for lunch after bike ride along canal. Friendly staff with nice meal. Pub could do with abit of TLC as it's in such a pretty place and especially at the end of the Pontcysyllte aqueduct which is a hertitage spot.
