“Very friendly atmosphere, superb fresh cooked food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2012

Three of us ate here to celebrate a birthday. The food was all very freshly cooked and absulutely superb. Dad didnt like fish !!!. But decided to order fresh Salmon and now at age 76 has decided he loves fish. Thanks to the Buck.
Not a big restaurant but ideal size for family gathering. Tables not too close together either which is a blessing.
Excellent choice of menu and very good value for money. Best place to eat in the locality. Strongly recoomend and will go again frequently over the summer months.

This pub has been taken over and refurbished by a local family. Well done - they have done a great job. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant. Menu was interesting and the food was superb. Friendly staff and we were made to feel very welcome. It was our first visit and we will be back again......soon.

My family and I ate here on a Saturday night. Our party consisted of 5 adults and two young children. We were made to feel very welcome and our orders were taken quickly and delivered promptly. The food was of a good standard nicely presented with home made chips and fresh well cooked vegetables. Would definitely return and would recommend. My only very minor criticism would be that we had to walk through a busy pub to access the dining room and a separate entrance would have been nice.

We ate here on a saturday night after the Rugby so the bar was very full and just before a coach load arrived for a party. I didn't expect much as it is fairly new wirh no reputation that i had heard of but I am eager to return. I had the Salmon for main which was cooked to perfection, none of that scummy white froth you get when overcooked! It was served with a really fresh salad and a choice of 3 potato dishes. Desert was lovely, obviously home-made and tasty. I had a lemon mousse served with summer fruit compote- delicious.
Will def return it s certainly worth the drive from Newtown with tasteful modern interior, very clean, polite staff. A def winner!

Today, seven of the family tried the Buck for the first time and had a lovely Sunday roast. The menu wasn't just limited to the roasts which was nice. The starters were lovely and the main course was great. All the little extras were a lovely touch. The team were very attentive and there was plenty of food. The desserts looked very appealing, but none of us could fit them in as well. All in all, would recommend, will try an evening meal sometime soon, but the menus look great. Place has had a lot of refurbishment and is definitely making use of the ample space available. Great surroundings and plenty of room in the restaurant with tables not too near each other and a great separate room for larger groups.

Room Tip: Only had lunch so non applicable.

The Buck was completely refurbished in 2010-2011 by a young local couple. They have put their heart and soul into the place and created a very friendly pub/eatery with superb quality fresh cooked food. We called for Sunday lunch and enjoyed fresh Cod rolled in Smoked Salmon. This was served on a bed of courgettes, accompanied by a fresh lemon sauce. All in all there were 7 different fresh vegetables. Together with drinks this cost just over £20.00. An absolute bargain considering the quality advise pre booking.bar meals Wed to sat.sunday lunch 12-2

Room Tip: Didnt stay there but looks good. Ideal for exploring Red Kite Country and good walking country-e.g...
