Stayed overnight as part of group. Small hotel with lots of old character, real fires and very friendly staff. Food was good but we only had Sunday menu and breakfast. Would like to have tried weekday menu - maybe next time. Only complaint was not much shower pressure. Clean rooms, welcoming and definitely a nice place to stay with well tended grounds.

There is nothing I can fault about this amazing hotel and staff members. We were looked after excellently all the way through planning our wedding and on our wedding day. Lee the wedding planner was wonderful and it is a shame the wedding is over so I can't annoy him anymore with endless phone calls that were never too much trouble for him. The food was fabulous and all my guests commented how it was the best wedding food they had ever had and how the room was decorated wonderfully. The room we stayed in was also lovely, shame we were only in there for a matter of 6 hours - the bar seemed a better idea at the time.........
I will recommend Maesmawr to everyone and can't wait to go back and visit!

My husband booked for 2 nights at New Year but didn't book until New Year eve morning. When booking, the hotel was very helpful and accommodating. On arrival we were given a free upgrade to a suite in the Coach House which was very spacious and comfortable. Even though there was a party in the hotel we heard no noise at all. Our dinner on both evenings was excellent, extensive choice of menu and excellent food. The same could be said for breakfast. All the staff were very helpful at all times and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and look forward to visiting again. First Class.

We had our wedding reception at Maesmawr on 21 Dec and it was fantastic thanks to Lee and all the staff at Maesmawr. Many stayed over the night before and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and brilliant food. The wedding reception was great with our guests particularly impressed with the venue. The food and service were excellent. We would definitely recommend the Maesmawr to anyone looking for a wedding venue or a as place to stay/eat in Mid Wales. Thank you to all at Maesmawr.

Was in the area for business, so looked through TA- and settled on this hotel. Hotel is a mix of old world charm, with beautiful gardens, good food and very pleasant staff. Beds were comfortable, rooms were warm- with wifi and tea/coffee. No complaints here!! Will def be back to this hotel- it's a hidden gem set in some lovely surroundings!

Visited for an 'unofficial' business meeting in the lounge and had a two course lunch and coffees. The food was excellent with an emphasis on home made and the service was courteous and efficient. Despite being in their small lounge area for over four hours, we were warmly welcomed and well looked after. All members of staff were pleasant. We will certainly visit again.

I came to stay at the hotel for a friends wedding in august which was booked out for the weekend to guests/family of the wedding. It is a beautiful looking hotel set in stunning grounds. On arrival we were booked in by lee who couldn't of been nicer and more helpful, I explained I had the wedding cake and was going to leave it in my car due to the weight and distance of moving it but he showed me the back entrance and a place to hide it as it was a surprise for the bride and groom as their wedding present. Lee was going off duty then and left us with someone else who showed us to our attic room, which is ok if your fit and healthy but sadly I struggled as I am disabled awaiting a knee replacement so the steep stairs and number of them was very hard work and then there was the hobbit sized door way to get through once you got up there. It would of been nice had the person who showed us to our room at least of taken my bags instead of me having to struggle with them up those stairs and almost have to throw them through the hobbit door and crawl through almost on my hands and knees in pain. Due to a wasps nest in the eves the windows were all left closed so as it was one of the hottest weekends we had this year it was like an oven up there, and the one small fan and the one old small mullioned window didn't help to cool it down. The bathroom is also not great if your claustrophobic as it has no window and the slope of the roof makes it feel like a cupboard rather than a bathroom. The room was full of spiders webs and dead flies stuck in the webs looks like the feather dusters needs to be taken up to the attic as the amount there was not just a couple of days it looked like it hadn't been done for a very long time. I appreciate the hotel is under a refit but dusting and cleaning should be a daily occurrence especially for £110 b&b per night. I hope this room gets a good makeover in the refit it desperately needs it.
The rest of the hotel is nice the history and nooks and crannys all add to the character of it. The food was excellent and lee and the other staff made sure we were all looked after very well. The wedding breakfast and the whole day was well managed and run and was a perfect day. Breakfast was lovely and well done and served.
The bridal suite I saw which I believe was a newly refurbished room was stunning so they are going in the right direction.
My son and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and would consider staying here again but I would definitely not want the attic hobbit room again it is not worth the price being charged for it and it's not suitable for anyone with mobility issues like myself.

Room Tip: Avoid the attic rooms if you have mobility issues or are claustrophobic
