I stayed at this hotel on a business trip for two nights. It has a real "step back in time" feel to it.
My room, number 10, had a very comfortable bed, television with good reception, telephone, radio/alarm, tea making facilities and perfect hot water in the bathroom even at 5.45am.
On the first night, the group I was with had a meal in the private dining room. I couldn't fault the meal at all. The staff were all very friendly and we had some jokes about the origin of the various courses, such as the bubble and squeak and the Gooseberry Fool. The toffee and banana bread and butter pudding was the best pudding I have ever had so far in any hotel I have stayed at. I was also pleased that there was no scrimping on portion sizes.
The Cooked Breakfast was brought out to the table and the bacon was perfect, not the fatty sort you get in a cafe.

Sat in the front room with the roaring log fire and a drink, you can easily imagine going back to an earlier time.

Just watch your head on the low beams!!

I stayed at this hotel as it came recommended by a close friend who has family in the area. Me and my partner love the outdoors and planned a weekend of walking and loved every second of our stay!

We ate every night in the restaurant and nothing was too much trouble! The owner was more than willing to talk about the history and the ghost stories which surround the place!

Our room was lovely and the food was amazing! we are returning in the autumn for another holiday and cant wait!

Very pretty hall close to main road but set in enough grounds that road noise certainly not a problem. Public rooms make the msot of the ancient building and the grounds are pretty. Accommodation fairly small but pleasantly decorated. Quiet rooms. TV stations poor but otherwise very good.
