There is a wide range of animals here, and they've done an excellent job of rebuilding after the fire last year. Well worth visiting for all animal lovers. Although it may not quite have as a diverse range of animals as Edinburgh Zoo, it has a better atmosphere. This is a must see if in the area!

Must say came back after a year and must say just as great as the first time we visited. Can't wait to come again and see the new reptile center. And again a must visit for anyone looking for a lovely place to visit or that just love animals. The bears were fab but I have to say my favourite was the wolf's lovely animals and so good to see them up close. Think most definitely will be back again soon

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, we are delighted that you enjoyed your return visit and liked all the changes that have taken place. The wolves are certainly a big favourite and we are so pleased to have been able to offer them a home in a huge natural woodland area. Look forward to welcoming you back in the Autumn once the Reptile House is open.

After reading that it is suitable for wheelchairs, we decided to go today and take my mobility scooter. Checked again at reception before going in to make sure it was suitable and was told yes, no problem. My scooter is a three wheeler pavement scooter, and I struggled. The ground is mostly very rough terrain, with a lot of large gravel type stones. There are also a few very steep hills, far too steep for a scooter to negotiate. At one point I had to get off and actually push it up one of the hills! There are a lot of unusual cambers too and a few times I almost came off due to hitting a camber and a stone at the same time. I could hardly enjoy myself for fear of falling off. It would probably be fine for an off-road type or road scooter, but for your standard little shoprider style pavement scooter, really not clever.

Apart from that, the zoo was OK. We eventually managed to see almost all of the animals. If you don't see something to start with, leave it and go elsewhere, and then go back. We did that with the bears and the wolves. Their habitat is huge so took some searching but eventually we saw the wolf really close up. The picnic area is brilliant and the Brown Bear cafe really good too. It has outside seating in the form of picnic benches, some of which even have wheelchair access. So much better than the silly wee plastic cafe tables and chairs.

Thank you for your recent comments about your visit and we are sorry that you struggled with your mobility scooter. Last winter we concreted or mono blocked the areas around the castle Zoo, the lemurs, monkeys and birds right down to the picnic area so hopefully you were okay through all of this section. Glad you enjoyed the Café and got to see the bears and the wolves and the majority of all the other animals.

We took our daughters a few years ago and the loved it! So decided to go again today. What a difference since our last visit. We all enjoyed our last visit but loved this visit! This time we came with my in laws and the also loved it. The girls loved the petting zoo part as well. The only one complaint I would have was my mother in law is in a wheelchair and some of the parts we couldnt get the chair down to because of the uneven ground. Apart from that we will be back in the autumn when the reptile house re opens!

Thank you so much for your recent comments about the Zoo, we are thrilled that you like all the changes that have taken place at the Zoo and that you will be back this Autumn. Point noted about a couple of the pathways being uneven for wheelchairs - we have been working our way round the main zoo which now has all smooth walkways and we hope to continue this when funds permit.
