The Hotel is set in a beautiful location. The decor in the main building was very quaint and beautiful. We enjoyed the bar and the restaurant. However, our accommodations were in a separate building, since we wanted a private bath with our room. The room we stayed in was pretty basic and sparsely furnished. The separate beds were not comfortable and the towels were skimpy as well. I don't think there are a lot of other choices in the area, so if you want to come here it's probably OK. Just as long as you know the Hotel itself is not the main attraction.

Never in my life have I ever fallen in love with a Hotel. This place was paradise on earth. Really a very quaint place full of Norse Gods painted on every room. The furniture antique and wonderful. In the morning when you get up it is all misty and cloudy. There is no TV or telephones in the rooms. When you walk on the wooden floor its a nice squeaky music to the ears. The breakfast and dinner that was provided was delicious. A few of my friends ate reindeer meat. The asparagus soup was so good that after having two helpings I could not eat anything else. Had a bit of the desert too which was yummy. Truly the highlight of my holiday.

Room Tip: All the rooms had their own quaintness. Loved it.

When we reached Lom we were under the impression that the hotel would be close to the City Centre so was quite disappointed to find that the hotel was 20km away. But once we reached the hotel and the drive to the hotel blew away all our disappointments. Brilliant hotel within century old buildings. Very traditional. The owner couple were an absolute delight and extremely helpful.

Being remote, wifi is only available in the main building, but I was wiling to live with it.

Breakfast was great!!! There is a set menu for dinner and one of the nights we did dinner st the hotel and it was really good,

A short distance from this hotel and you can reach fabulous panoramic views. Strongly recommend for a short visit.

The reviews I read before staying at this hotel made it sound very interesting and it was one of the more reasonably priced hotels we found for our trip to Norway, so we didn't have any real expectations. The hotel sounded good, but the reviews could not have prepared me for the awe that the hotel brought when we arrived. We had three in our party and all agree this hotel is one of our all-time favorites. Never have I stayed at a hotel that held surprises in every hallway, corner and room. It would be impossible to notice all of the little details, because there were so many. The artwork painted on the walls, down staircases and on each door told the story of a huldra attempting to lure a young many to marry her, along with depictions and other stories of trolls and Norwegian folklore. The hotel was packed with history. We found ourselves feeling like kids in a candy store. Because it was late after dinner (excellent!) and the main part of the hotel building had already had the lights turned out (that part consisted mostly of lounge areas and the bar which had long since closed for the evening), the lady working at the front desk offered to turn on all the lights so that we could wander through the rooms and look at everything. What a treat that was! We were pleasantly surprised with a very clean, basic triple room that overlooked the river. The sound of the river water flowing fast down the river and a backdrop of beautiful mountains was very relaxing. We left the windows open all night and got a great night's sleep. The morning after we arrived, we took a walk outside around the hotel property. Every building of the hotel compound held architectural details that were unexpected. Even the Saga Column that was moved to the site has quite an interesting history surrounding it. I wish we had been able to stay more than one night here. The staff were all wonderful. Our waiter was very friendly and provided quite a lot of information on European culture. In Lom, we visited the town, went to the Stave Church which was quite interesting, and happened upon a small bakery selling Bollers lightly flavored with cardamom, topped with custard and coconut. They were so good that we went back to the bakery to buy more within an hour of buying the first Bollers and they were already sold out of the custard and coconut topped variety. Just the memory of the mouthwatering goodness makes me wish I was in Lom now. Great hotel and great location!

Would have loved to stay longer, and will definately book again!
The 3 course dinner was very tasty. The starter, home made tomatosoup served family style in a terrine, was better than mine!
We slept in a newly renovated room, in a wonderful quality bed, and woke up rested and ready to enjoy Jotunheimen.
The host and hostess are kind and welcoming people, who together with their wonderful staff really makes everyone feel at home!

This is the greatest place to stay! When my cousin couldn't walk stairs and get to the dining room, they set a private table for him with delicious dinner, candle/ambience and all! Rooms are immaculate and lobby and dining filled with art and antiques!

Elveseter is a very special place in the mountains of the Jotunheimen Nationalpark. It is located about 20 km far from Lom, on the way up to the glaciers.
The landscape we could enjoy was stunning.
All the hotel buildings are linked together by wooden passageways so you can protect from cold.
Our room was clean and comfortable.
Dinner wasn't special, but breakfast was very rich.
Free wi-fi is available at the reception and in the restaurant.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Elveseter is an old farm situated in Boverdalen valley in the municipality of Lom. The Elveseter farm was typical for the area, both in size and how it was run. However, more than a story about a typical Norwegian farm, the story about Elveseter is the story about a family of gifted craftsmen of Norwegian folk art and pioneers in the hotel and leisure industry both, who dared to think differently and succeed. Today, Inger and Rungne Elveseter is the hostess and host at Elveseter. The family was always avid collectors of fine art, paintings by the great Norwegian Masters, and wooden objects by the Norwegian Masters of folk art from the eighteenth century, most notably two cabinets by "Skjak Ola", which are proudly on display at Elveseter today. At Elveseter, we can offer a break from your everyday life, where art, culture and good food are the main ingredients comprising your stay with us. ... more   less
