My boyfriend and I stayed at Cavas for 5 nights and I can honestly say I have not experienced anything close to the views you wake up to! The villas are positioned at the bottom of the Andes and we had clear views of the mountains through the vineyards.

The service was brilliant, the hotel staff went out of their way on a number of occasions for us and we developed friendships with them as they were so hospitable and generous. Their concierge and manager Barbara helped us in a very awkward situation when we had all out flights cancelled due to a strike across Argentina.

In one word, outstanding.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 10 and had uninterrupted views to the mountains

What a great first visit to Argentina punctuated by a week-long stay at Cavas Wine Lodge! Not only is the property nestled in a vineyard with the Andes in view from every vantage point on the property, the property owners Martin & Cecilia and their entire staff, did everything they could to make sure our stay was perfect! If you have the opportunity to stay here, put yourself in their capable hands to plan dinners, winery visits and excursions! They know BEST and are well-connected in the area. The food on-property was terrific, the spa...outstanding, and the special care they took of our entire party (4 couples) was just over the top! Loved the fact that someone was always on the front 'porch' to wave goodbye as we headed out for the day or welcome us back after a day of activities. Sunrises AND sunsets are stunning here...go if you can!!

Room Tip: I don't think there are any bad rooms/Casitas but there are two new guest cottages that are stun...

We spent three nights at the Cavas Wine Lodge booking what we were told was one of the two rooms with a rooftop terrace and private jacuzzi. Although the airport pick-up, is just that--a pick-up and not the customary luxury car that you typically associate with such advertised facilities, it didn't phase us, although my wife said she thought at first we might be kidnapped. It knocked our socks off when we arrived down the short, rough dirt road to the lodge with a spectacular entrance drive and a wonderful central facility upon the steps of which we were greeted by the concierge, Justina, and a welcoming glass of wine. The central facility continued to impress us as she took us on a guided tour of the place with its wine cave and spa.

It was a short walk to our room located, as is the whole facility itself, in the midst of a vineyard and within close proximity to the spectacular Andes. The facade of the adobe styled duplex was very appealing as was the initial impression of the three room cabana. As she showed us around, she pointed out the private jacuzzi, which alas did not work because it was located outside, but designed for an indoor installation and there was also a small plunge pool, which looked great, but we were advised that it was not heated because much of the time it is hot in this location. Alas, it was not hot during our stay, nor abnormal temperatures, we are told, for this time of the year.

We also toured the rooftop terrace where we were told that we could have meals with cushions thrown over the concrete seats and with a fire in the fireplace. We were sold and immediately ordered breakfast for the morrow morn as we wanted to be atop to view what was advertised as glorious sunrises against the Andes.

As we unpacked we noted the overall deterioration of the room. The wooden floors were in huge need of some care and there were a number of missing tiles on the three, yes three, bathrooms in the one bedroom suite.

Wine tasting was on for 6;30 in the evening, but we were delayed a bit while we conducted some business. When we showed up 15 minutes late, we were told that it was cancelled because no one showed up at 6:30. Seemed odd that punctuality was that important in Latin America, but no biggie as we finished off the evening with a private dinner in the wine cave. Diana, our waitress, and Andrea, the sommelier, were terrific and the food was OK, but not great. But who cared, the ambiance far outweighed the fare at any rate.

Breakfast was served on the terrace the next morning, but we weren't notified that it had arrived, Fortunately we called the front desk and were told that it had been delivered. We beat the birds to it, but it was without fire for the needed warmth or cushions for the needed comfort. The spectacular sunrise against the Andes offset it though.

We did wine tastings both days and the drivers were all great. Don't necessarily believe them when they say you can choose the driver as we attempted to twice, but to no avail. Actually it worked out fine as they all were great. Max and Carlos made sure that the logistics of our wine tastings went off without a hitch. And they were very knowledgeable of the region and Carlos, in particular, of the wineries. One thing that was very disappointing was that we had to pay a supplement at one of the wineries, Cobos, because the lodge had only arranged the introductory tasting. Now, if one is traveling to Mendoza, the famous wine region of Argentina, and booking the full stay to visit wineries, one would imagine that the lodge could figure out we weren't opting for introductory wines. From then on, we told them specifically, that we only wanted to taste the best that the wineries had on offer.

As we departed that first day for the tastings, we advised the front desk that there seemed to be an abnormal number of flies in our room and we could not figure out where they came from. So if they would take it look, we would appreciate it. We had killed ten flies in the room thanks to the thoughtfully supplied bug spray. Those dead flies where still there when we departed two days later.

So, in our opinion, the Cavas Wine Lodge has a ways to go to be classified with our other luxury experiences of ours. It is truly unique and has wonderful staff, but value for money was not there in our experience.

Room Tip: Although we booked one of the exclusive rooms, we could not recommend it for the additional cost ver...

After the high energy of Buenos Aires, we arrived at Cavas Wine Lodge and immediately started to slow it down and enjoy. The resort is beautiful ... located right in the vineyard, with a wonderful lobby, restaurant area, pool, spa, small gym and lots of walkways through the vineyards ... it is delightful. We were really happy with the stand-alone units (2 guests per unit) which feature a living area, big bedroom and awesome bathroom, with an individual patio, dunk pool and outdoor shower. The people were so helpful; I had e-mailed with them several times before arriving to make some wine, hiking and dinner plans. Each day we had weather-related changes, and the "front desk" team couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. Even a small situation that occurred was handled smoothly and with our needs being met first. The restaurant was great, and the (included) breakfast each morning was so generous with fruit, juices, granola, yogurt, meats, cheeses and hot menu options. Last, we were there for a Tango and Asado evening which was off the charts special...I'll never forget it!

We spent four nights at Cavas and truly enjoyed the experience. The staff was very accommodating as we changed our itinerary a few times. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The room was really more of a villa and was charming. We especially loved the rooftop terrace and evening fires. The spa was terrific; very good massages. Prices differed from website to the in-room card but overall was very reasonable. Dinner in the cellar should not be missed-romantic and private. Enjoyed the comfort and ease of the wine safari service. The drivers waited for us and gave good insight to local sights. While we don't usually go to the same place twice, we may make an exception for Cavas. Martin was charming and it was nice to have the proprietor acknowledge our visit.

We just spent 4 wonderful days at Cavas. The experience was wonderful. The setting is magical and it's hard to find the words to aptly describe it. The views of the vineyard and the snow capped mountains were breathtaking. The breakfasts were well done and the attention to detail was perfect. We toured 2 or 3 wineries a day and were driven everywhere we needed to go. The staff was charming. The casita was an oasis and a great site for relaxing. Our dinner in the wine cellar was romantic and well done. The sommelier was enthusiastic; the desk staff was warm and friendly; the wait staff engaging and helpful. The drivers were great. We enjoyed our conversations with Martin as well. Being relatively fluent in Spanish made the trip easier perhaps but I'm not sure. We would definitely return.
