Cavas was truly fabulous. We were there for 4 days of our honeymoon and loved every minute. The hotel staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, with extra touches that made us feel special on our honeymoon.

The rooms are beautiful, with a private terrace overlooking the vineyards, and snow-capped peaks of the andes in the distance. The roof terrace gave a stunning viewpoint from which to enjoy a glass of malbec while the sunset. We were even served a romantic dinner on our roof, and chose to sleep out under the stars one night.

The hotel has many options for day trips and vineyard tours. We went horse-riding through some local vineyards, followed by a wine tour and lunch - a very relaxing way to spend half a day! We also did a bike tour to vineyards next to the hotel... beware it is rougher going and further than you think, but gives you a great excuse to indulge in a 3 course wine tasting lunch at the end of the trip.

The hotel is about 30 minutes from Mendoza, so we chose to have most of our meals at the hotel (other than on wine tours etc). They recommended a few restaurants in Mendoza, and the one we tried was excellent. The food at the hotel was excellent, and always accompanied by the fabulous wines you would expect. They also have tapas style dishes if you have over-eaten at a tasting lunch, and prefer something lighter for dinner...

There is a lovely spa at the hotel, and we had massage and facials. They were good value, and very high quality.

The only tiny thing we would recommend for improvements would be to heat the plunge pools on the terraces, and the main pool. They were very cold, and even the summer heat didn't tempt us into taking a dip.

A few days at Cavas were enough for us to sample the local area, but as part of a bigger trip in Argentina / South America, this was probably the highlight of our whole trip.

Overall, the service at the hotel really stood out, we were treated so well throughout our stay and nothing was too much effort. A really memorable, unique and fabulous place to go for our honeymoon.

My wife and i recently spent three days at Cavas as part of our honeymoon. What a lovely, friendly, relaxing and luxurious place !! This is the place to stay if you are wine-tasting or merely touring the region.
The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful - the food is fantastic - the rooms are fantastic, spacious and homely.
Cecilia and Martin have created something very special - they are perfect hosts, who are around if you need them and very interested to hear where they can improve - we could only offer petty things that, in our view, could be better - i emphasise the petty, because there really is very little wrong with Cavas.
The spa is superb, offering a whole range of treatments. There are a number of activities on offer if you wish to explore the Andes. The staff organised an excellent vineyard tour of 5-6 wineries over two days.
Everything is friendly yet professional - relaxing and luxurious.
I have read other reviews of Cavas with interest - to make it clear, Cavas is not based in the centre of Mendoza, but 30mins or so drive away. If you are coming to Mendoza and don't mend spending, stay here - you won't be disapppointed !
Make use of the outside fire on top of your bungalow at night, together with a bottle of wine it is perfect and romantic.
We made contact with Cavas prior to our visit in order to arrange visits etc and they were most helpful, sending through a provisional itinerary beforehand.
Thankyou for a fantastic time !

This was truly a once in a life time experience!! Beautiful Casitas, Stunning Grounds, Wonderful Staff. Everything was perfect! The staff was charming and helpful. Complimentary Wifi, Wine in the room, Bikes for riding around the grounds and vineyards nearby. Cecilia and Martin are always on the premises to make sure to your every need. Can't say enough about our way too short stay at Cavas. We will be recommending to all our friends! Do not miss! We will return!

We came to Cavas to enjoy their wonderful spa day. It included 3.5 hours of services plus lunch. We really enjoyed the time we were at Cavas. We even toured the property and got to see one of the rooms. I would highly recommend the Cavas Wine Lodge if you are a couple. We did not stay there as we were two female friends traveling together and we wanted to stay in Mendoza. However, the spa experience was excellent and the lunch was terrific and surpassed our expectations. The spa day was a great value and even though we were not staying at the hotel, we were treated like royalty by the staff. They are so professional and lovely. You must see Cavas Wine Lodge if you go to Mendoza.

With direct views of the Andes from one of the 12 private casitas, Cavas Wine Lodge is a relaix chateaux property not to be missed. The food is excellent and the people running the lodge are attentive and so helpful. Each large casita has a wood burning fireplace in the room and also on the upstairs deck so you can enjoy wine and a snack while looking at the Andes. I recommend hiring a driver as the roads are not clearly marked and it is easier to sit back and enjoy the ride instead of driving. There are other wineries that you can visit from there that are close by as well. This was a wonderful experience that we will do again.

I have come back from Argentina and my trip in Buenos Aires, and Mendoza was so special. I planned to stay in Argentina for 2 weeks and with help from the forum was able to make my way over to Mendoza and enjoy the most enjoyable wine!

I felt confident going to Buenos Aires, and I wanted to venture out of the city and see more of the country. However, since I wasn’t confident with my Spanish (it is VERY basic!!) and since this was my first time in South America, I needed some help.

I ended up booking the Mendoza VIP trip with Say Hueque Travel www.SayHueque.com and I am glad that I did. They were very helpful and organized everything from start to finish, including my request to hike around Aconcagua.

I stayed at the luxurious Cavas Wine Lodge and enjoyed some of the best Argentine wine, empanadas, and juicy cuts of meat that I have ever tried. Besides touring the Cavas winery and enjoying various tastings of Malbec and Cabernet, I also toured other wineries in the nearby Maipu Valley, and even visited an olive farm- that had some of the tastiest olive oil, fresh baked bread and olive-spreads, and strangely enough- locally made Absinthe.
In addition to the wineries, I also took a day trip to visit Aconcagua Mountain and did an easy hike with “Nicolas-the-good-looking-guide” to Horcones Lagoon.

Both were very impressive! I found Argentineans to be a very hospitable people and Mendoza was a lovely city. I recommend it to anyone going to Argentina. But remember to bring good hiking shoes if you visit Aconcagua.

The Cavas Wine Lodge is a nice, quiet place with a great restaurant and a friendly staff. The problem is that it is in the middle of nowhere. If you want to get out and see the wineries, restaurants, the mountains and other sites, you need a rental car or you are stuck with the hotel's car service. We opted for the car service but did not ask about the cost up front...BIG MISTAKE!!!!! We ended up spending almost $700 for 4 days.
The casitsas are nice, but need screen doors to keep the bugs out.

We thank you very much for your review! It is important that we clarify that we are half hour from Mendoza city but in the middle of the wine route with some of the best wineries in the region within easy reach, even a short bike ride away. We chose this particular location for its central position to go wine tasting and for the stunning view of the Andes mountains. Our aim is that everyone has an outstanding experience at Cavas and we do inform all rates in advance. We have reviewed the correspondence in your particular case, and prices on all activities and transfers were sent to the online travel agency you used to book Cavas, prior to your arrival at the lodge. Guests can rent a car if they prefer other transportation options or take advantage of our 2,3 & 4 night Special Programs where all transportation is included. Needless to say, we use the best car service in the area, with English Speaking drivers which is always a plus to make the most of a short stay in Mendoza.

We are delighted that you enjoyed our restaurant and staff! As Summer comes in we will start using the patio and private terraces for great al fresco dining! Kind regards from Martin, Cecilia and the Cavas team
