We had a fabulous two night stay here, arriving on, what was, Sri Lankan New Years day. All the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble. We were even invited to join in with part of their new year celebrations and enjoy the traditional cakes and sweets. Evening dinner was a buffet and the choice was very good, with the addition of fish cooked to order. A Buffet breakfast was also on offer and eggs, served to your preference, were cooked to order. The hotel staff also organised a last minute safari for us. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. The pool is wonderful. We had a fantastic stay here and would certainly recommend this to other travellers.

This smaller than average hotel is a little jewel near to the Yala game reserve entrance. The purple tiled pool is uniquely inviting and a decent size. As we were at end of season, we were offered tailored breakfast and evening meals which were arranged by the manager, Mr Pereira, and his exec chef. The food was Sri Lankan through and through... New curry tastes even for curry lovers like us.. All staff were polite and attentive. I would stay here again ...

What an amazing pool this hotel has - just what you need after a dusty jeep ride in Yala national park.
No ambience due to very low occupancy and the rooms needed better lighting (I had to use my headtorch!) But fabulous value for money and I would like to have stayed longer. One last thing - they wouldn't give our driver a room, I think because we hadn't booked direct which I thought was a bit mean given how empty the place was.

We spent 5 nights at Hotel Tamarind Tree in February and will certainly return.

We were welcomed warmly and taken to our spacious and well equipped room next to the pool. The hotel is very well managed with great staff. There wasn't a separate bar/lounge when we were there but I understand there are plans for one to open within the next few months. At present they serve beer or wine with the occasional cocktail.

One thing that we particularly liked was that breakfast was served to us, not a buffet. The same with the evening meal which was a set meal with several choices. There was also an a la carte menu.

The accommodation was reasonably priced, the staff were lovely and the pool was excellent. This is an excellent hotel to add to the options in Tissa where we have stayed on several occasions. Tamarind Tree will now be our first choice when we are in the area.
